Fusarium head blight is a devastating disease that causes severe yield loses and mycotoxin contamination in wheat grain. Additionally, balancing the trade-off between wheat production and disease resistance has proved challenging. This study aimed to expand the genetic tools of the endophyte Phomopsis liquidambaris against Fusarium graminearum.

This study investigated the effects of Bacillus coagulans X26 on the production performance, egg quality, intestinal structure, intestinal short-chain fatty acids, and microbial diversity of laying hens during the peak laying period and explored the possibility of using B. coagulans X26 as an alternative to antibiotics. The results showed that adding 1.

Pectate lyase treatment can be an alternative strategy of the chemical processing, which causes severe environmental pollution, and has been broadly studied and applied for diverse industrial applications including textile industry, beverage industry, pulp processing, pectic wastewater pretreatment, and oil extraction. This review gave a brief description of the origins, enzymatic characterizations, structure, and applications of pectate lyases (Pels). Most of the reported pectate lyases are originated from microorganisms with a small number of them from plants and animals.

Pectate lyases (Pels) can be used in the textile industrial process for cotton scouring and ramie degumming, and its hydrolyzed products oligo galacturonic acid, are high-value added agricultural and health products. In our previous studies, an alkaline pectate lyase PEL168 mutant, PEL3, was obtained with improved specific activity and thermostability. Here, a facile and rapid method for preparing an immobilized PEL3-inorganic hybrid nanoflower was developed, as it could improve its biocatalytic performance.

Lipase diversity in glacier soil was assessed by culture independent metagenomic DNA fragment screening and confirmed by cell culture experiments. A set of degenerate PCR primers specific for lipases of the hormone-sensitive lipase family was designed based on conserved motifs and used to directly PCR amplify metagenomic DNA from glacier soil. These products were used to construct a lipase fragment clone library.

A phytase with high activity at neutral pH and typical water temperatures ( approximately 25 degrees C) could effectively hydrolyze phytate in aquaculture. In this study, a phytase-producing strain, Pedobacter nyackensis MJ11 CGMCC 2503, was isolated from glacier soil, and the relevant gene, PhyP, was cloned using degenerate PCR and thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR. To our knowledge, this is the first report of detection of phytase activity and cloning of phytase gene from Pedobacter.

A DNA fragment of 2,042 bp containing a novel beta-mannanase gene, man5A, was identified from the genome of the mannan-degrading bacterium Bacillus circulans CGMCC1554. The open reading frame of man5A comprised 978 bp encoding a protein of 326 amino acids with a predicted molecular weight of 32 kDa. The amino acid sequence of the encoded mannanase, MAN5A, showed the highest identity (78.

A novel phytase gene, appA, was isolated by degenerate polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR from Dickeya paradisiaca. The full-length appA comprises 1278 bp and encodes 425 amino acid residues, including a 23-residue putative N-terminal signal peptide. The deduced amino acid sequence of appA reveals the conserved motifs RHGXRXP and HD, which are typical of histidine acid phosphatases; significantly, APPA shows maximum identity (49%) to a phytase from Klebsiella pneumoniae.
