In this work, we employ a simple mechanical mixing strategy to directly incorporate VCT MXene with metallic Na as an anode for Na metal batteries, which enables highly reversible and dendrite-free properties during the Na plating/stripping processes. Our findings reveal that the VCT host in the Na metal anode promotes uniform Na deposition, attributed to its abundant -O and -F surface functional groups, and we believe that this work provides a feasible approach to improve the electrochemical performance of sodium metal anodes.

mRNA vaccines are recognized as potent tools for immunization against viral diseases and cancer. However, the lack of a vaccine adjuvant limits the efficacy of these treatments. Here, we used cGAS mRNA, which encodes the DNA innate immune sensor, complexed with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to boost the immune response.

The stability of the electrode-electrolyte interface in layered oxides is enhanced by electrolyte design criteria. A weakly-solvated electrolyte containing ethyl trifluoroacetate solvents with perfluorinated functional groups can restrain electrolyte decomposition and structural degradation when subjected to heat attack, exhibiting superior cycling durability at 60 °C compared to other fluorinated electrolytes.

We presented a patient with refractory anti-GABA-R encephalitis, and constructed libraries for single-cell sequencing from the patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), cerebrospinal fluid cells, as well as four healthy volunteer's PBMCs. A distinct group of monoclonal CD8 T cells and an abnormal JAK-STAT signaling pathway was implicated in the disease. The cross-reactive protein LIM-domain-only protein 5 (LMO5) identified in the patient's thymoma, prompted the activation of the specific CD8 T cells.

Proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis presents considerable advantages in green hydrogen production. Nevertheless, oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts in PEM water electrolysis currently encounter several pressing challenges, including high noble metal loading, low mass activity, and inadequate durability, which impede their practical application and commercialization. Here we report a self-constructed layered catalyst for acidic OER by directly using an Ir-Ta-based metallic glass as the matrix, featuring a nanoporous IrO surface formed in situ on the amorphous IrTaO nanostructure during OER.

The Chishui River is the prime production area for Jiang-flavor Baijiu in China, with 85% of the country's production capacity. To understand the spatial and temporal characteristics of fungal communities in the water column of the Maotai reach of the Chishui River and the relationship between fungal communities and environmental factors as well as the brewing of Jiang-flavor Baijiu, we analyzed the fungal species richness and diversity, structural changes, community composition, and correlation with environmental factors in different seasons and river reaches of the Chishui River Maotai reach. It was found that species richness and diversity followed the following seasonal pattern: summer > autumn > winter ≈ spring.

Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a rare embryonal central nervous system tumor with a dismal prognosis that occurs mostly in early childhood. Since recent epidemiological and prognostic information is limited, we aimed to describe and analyze AT/RT-related incidences, temporal trends and prognostic factors. Incidence and survival data between 2001 and 2021 were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Cropland changes are crucial aspects of land-use/land-cover changes (LUCC), which profoundly influence agricultural sustainability and terrestrial ecosystem health. In the context of dynamic shifts within the natural environment, coupled with the evolution of agricultural practices and the transformation of agrarian systems and policies, the trajectory of farmland alteration has exhibited significant divergence across various nations and regions. This article delves into the intriguing phenomenon of China's cropland migrating up to mountains and down to wetlands and analyses its spatiotemporal pattern evolution from 1990 to 2020.

Due to the minimal electrochemical oxidation-reduction potential, the potassium (K) metal anode has emerged as a focal in K-ion batteries. However, the reactivity of the K metal anode leads to significant side reactions, particularly gas evolution. Mitigating gas generation from K metal anodes has been a persistent challenge in the field.

  • The study focuses on identifying salivary proteins as potential biomarkers for primary Sjögren's disease (pSjD) to create a non-invasive prediction model.
  • Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used on saliva samples to find proteins associated with immune processes, highlighting specific proteins such as CFB, CLU, and NE as independent predictors of pSjD.
  • The proposed model combining these biomarkers with serum autoantibodies and Schirmer's test showed high accuracy, with a sensitivity of 84.85% and specificity of 92.45%, suggesting it could serve as a valuable non-invasive tool for pSjD classification.

The incorporation of aromatic difluoromethyl motifs has proven to be a fruitful strategy for enhancing the therapeutic profiles of modern pharmaceutical candidates. While the defluorofunctionalization of trifluoromethylarenes offers a promising pathway toward diverse aromatic difluoromethyl compounds, current methods are predominantly limited to two-component reactions. Multicomponent cascade reactions (MCRs) involving a transient aromatic difluoromethyl radical are still uncommon and highly sought after, owing to their capacity to rapidly generate challenging molecular structures.

  • L-lactic acid fermentation at low pH minimizes the need for neutralizers and reduces solid waste in purification.
  • Most lactic acid bacteria struggle to survive in low pH environments, prompting a study to enhance pH tolerance in an engineered strain of Pediococcus acidilactici.
  • By using a pH shifting method during cultivation, the engineered strain showed a significant increase in L-lactic acid production, achieving a 43% increase at pH 4.6 and a 2.1-fold increase at pH 4.4 compared to the original strain.

Objectives: In recent years, China's motorization process has accelerated, urban road traffic has become increasingly complex, and the safety of children has become increasingly prominent. China aims to encourage the use of child safety seats (CSSs) and stipulates in the Law on the Protection of Minors that "Parents or other guardians of minors take measures, such as equipping child safety seats." However, the utilization rate of such seats in China is still low (<5%, 2021), an important reason is the lack of mandatory legislation.

  • Developing efficient low-Pt catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is essential for improving fuel cell performance, as existing high-performing catalysts often use over 70% Pt or are not durable when Pt levels are reduced.
  • The study presents a new multicomponent solid-solution catalyst, Pt(FeCoNi), supported by a high-entropy metallic glass, achieving a low Pt loading of 5.79 µg/cm while showing mass and specific activities that are approximately 15 and 22 times higher than conventional commercial Pt/C.
  • The catalyst maintains exceptional durability, displaying negligible activity decay after 50,000 potential cycles, thanks to a unique mechanism where the support material compensates for the loss of active surface area
