Land use change is the main cause of carbon stock changes in terrestrial ecosystems. Studying the impact mechanisms of carbon stock changes in different land use types in the arid zone and simulating future changes in land use and carbon stock under different scenarios will help to formulate a scientific land use policy for the arid zone to promote high-quality and sustainable development in the region. Based on the Xinjiang land use data from 2000 to 2020, the coupled PLUS-InVEST model analyzed the spatial and temporal characteristics of land use and carbon stock in Xinjiang from 2000 to 2020 and predicted the changes in land use and carbon stock in Xinjiang in 2030 under the scenarios of natural development (Z1), economic development (Z2), sustainable development (Z3), arable land preservation development (Z4), and ecological protection development (Z5).

This study introduces an advanced bioanalytical platform that combines digital microfluidics (DMF) with Raman spectroscopy, effectively addressing common issues in bioanalysis such as sample contamination, excessive consumption of samples and reagents, and manual handling. Our innovative system is engineered to handle diverse sample types and enables both sample preparation and in-situ analysis on a single device, utilizing less than 5 μL of samples and reagents. It incorporates a Translucent Raman Enhancement Stack (TRES) sensor, which boosts the detection signal, and includes droplet-driving functionality for automated processing of complex samples in a compact setting.

Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus, point-of-care diagnostics based on nucleic acid testing have become a requirement for the development of pathogen diagnostics, which require the ability to accurately, rapidly, and conveniently detect pathogens. Conventional nucleic acid amplification techniques no longer meet the requirements for pathogen detection in low-resource, low-skill environments because they require specialist equipment, complex operations, and long detection times. Therefore, recombinant polymerase amplification (RPA) is becoming an increasingly important method in today's nucleic acid detection technology because it can amplify nucleic acids in 20-30 minutes at a constant temperature, greatly reducing the dependence on specialist equipment and technicians.

Breakthroughs in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis are critical in tumor liquid biopsies but remain a technical challenge due to the double-stranded structure, extremely low abundance, and short half-life of ctDNA. Here, we report an electrochemical CRISPR/dCas9 sensor (E-dCas9) for sensitive and specific detection of ctDNA at a single-nucleotide resolution. Internal tandem duplication (ITD) mutations within the FMS-like tyrosine kinase-3 (FLT3) occur in up to 25% of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and indicate a very poor prognosis. To clarify how micro-LED far-field light distributions differ from Lambertian distributions owing to small-sized-structure effects, the light distribution of a micro-LED was simulated via the ray-tracing method in this study. Specifically, considering material absorption, far-field light distribution, and light-output efficiency, we studied micro-LEDs as a function of size. We found that the light distribution is the most uniform and the efficiency is the highest when the size is the smallest under certain conditions.

Nanorod array and planar green-emission InGaN/GaN multi-quantum well (MQW) LEDs were fabricated by lithography, nano-imprinting, and top-down etching technology. The defect-pinning effect of the nanostructure was found for the first time. The ratio of the bright regions to the global area in the panchromatic CL images of green MQW samples increased from 30% to about 90% after nano-fabrication.

Pyroelectricity describes the generation of electricity by temporal temperature change in polar materials. When free-standing pyroelectric materials approach the 2D crystalline limit, how pyroelectricity behaves remained largely unknown. Here, using three model pyroelectric materials whose bonding characters along the out-of-plane direction vary from van der Waals (InSe), quasi-van der Waals (CsBiNbO) to ionic/covalent (ZnO), we experimentally show the dimensionality effect on pyroelectricity and the relation between lattice dynamics and pyroelectricity.
