Cathelicidins have anti-inflammatory activity and chicken cathelicidin-2 (CATH-2) has shown to modulate immune response, but the underlying mechanism of its anti-inflammation is still unclear. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of CATH-2 on murine peritoneal macrophages during avian pathogenic (APEC) infection. Liquid diffusion coefficients are usually concentration-dependent (D(C)), and current methods for measuring the D(C) relationship suffer from long measurement times and large repetitive experimental workloads. This paper consequently proposes a new method for rapid measurement of D(C), which can eliminate the need to measure uncalibrated diffusion coefficients corresponding to concentration by comparing the theoretical concentration distribution of diffusion solution obtained by the finite element method and the experimental concentration distribution. The core diffusion and imaging setup is a compound liquid-core cylindrical lens, which can offer the advantages of high refractive index resolution and imaging quality, guaranteeing the accurate measurement concentration distribution.

Polylactic acid (PLA) can serve as a biodegradable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics, but its poor impact resistance and high production costs limit its applications. In this study, different contents of epoxidized epoxy soybean oil (ESO) were added as plasticizer to melt blend with polylactic acid (PLA), polypropylene (PP) and cotton stalk fiber (CSF), examining its impact on the mechanical properties, thermal stability, microstructure, and crystallization behavior of the blends. The results indicated that ESO reacted with PLA and CSF to form branched polymers and microgels.

This study aimed to characterize the structure of polysaccharide ZOPA extracted from Zingiber officinale and its purified form (ZOPA-1), and to investigate their anti-fatigue mechanisms based on the gut-muscle axis. The study found that the backbone of ZOPA-1 is primarily composed of →3,4)-α-Glcp-1→ and →4,6)-α-Glcp-(1→ linkages, with →4)-α-Glcp(1→ serving as its side chain. In exhaustive swimming experiments with mice, both crude ZOPA and purified ZOPA-1 demonstrated significant anti-fatigue effects, including enhanced glycogen storage, improved antioxidant capacity, reduced accumulation of metabolic waste products, and regulated energy metabolism in the gastrocnemius muscles.

Spatial heterodyne one-dimensional imaging spectrometer (SHIS) can simultaneously acquire hyperspectral information from different fields of view (FOVs). However, the dynamic range of SHIS is limited by the detector's performance. We propose a high dynamic range spatial heterodyne one-dimensional imaging spectroscopy (HD-SHIS) based on a digital micromirror device (DMD), which can control the exposure time of each FOV signal by adjusting the flip time of micromirrors on an M-bit DMD, realizing the simultaneous detection of strong and weak signals in FOVs with a theoretical improvement of the dynamic range by dB.
