Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied the different types of cells in the ovaries of adult Nile tilapia fish using a special method called single-nucleus RNA sequencing.
  • They discovered four types of cells: oogonia, oocytes, granulosa cells, and thecal cells, each with unique genes and jobs.
  • The research also showed how these cells communicate with each other, which is important for fish reproduction, and identified new genes that could help in understanding fish ovary development.

Sex determination in many fish species is remarkably plastic and temperature sensitive. Nile tilapia display a genetic sex-determination system (XX/XY). However, high-temperature treatment during critical thermosensitive periods can induce XX females into XXm pseudo-males, and this phenomenon is termed temperature-induced sex reversal (TISR).

A novel method of combination of the chemometrics and the hyperspectral imaging techniques was presented to detect the temperatures of Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer (EVA) films in photovoltaic cells during the thermal encapsulation process. Four varieties of the EVA films which had been heated at the temperatures of 128, 132, 142 and 148 °C during the photovoltaic cells production process were used for investigation in this paper. These copolymer encapsulation films were firstly scanned by the hyperspectral imaging equipment (Spectral Imaging Ltd.
