Background: Cryptocaryon irritans, a common parasite in tropical and subtropical marine teleost fish, has caused serious harm to the marine aquaculture industry. Honokiol was proven to induce C. irritans tomont cytoplasm shrinkage and death in our previous study, but the mechanism by which it works remains unknown.

This study aimed at identifying novel biomarkers in gingival tissues from periodontitis by integrally analyzing methylation profiles and gene expression data. Differential gene expressions (DGEs) of dataset GSE106090 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database for Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis.

Galvanized materials have shown efficacy in controlling this parasite infestation through the release of zinc ions to induce oxidative stress.
Methods: In this study, the resistance mechanism in C.
The protozoan Cryptocaryon irritans is one of the most important ectoparasites of marine fish, causing 'white spot disease' and mass mortality in aquaculture. To accurately predict disease outbreaks and develop prevention strategies, improved detection methods are required that are sensitive, convenient and rapid. In this study, a pair of specific primers based on the C.

The first case of SIS was reported in 1971, and 24 cases of SIS have been reported so far. However, including the present case, there are only seven cases without spinal canal and neuroforamina involvement.

From May 2012 to September 2013, a total of 188 cases of patients with fractures, who received different treatment, were incorporated in the study and then divided into: group A (n=59), conventional pusher-type vertebroplasty; group B (n=54), balloon kyphoplasty; group C (n=60), new-type hydraulic delivery vertebroplasty treatment. The overall follow-up rate was 92.

Here we examined whether carvacrol protected neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells against Fe(2+)-induced apoptosis and explored the underlying mechanisms.
Methods: Neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells were incubated with Fe(2+) for 24 h, and the cell viability was assessed with CCK-8 assay.
Currently, drug discovery and development for clinical treatment of prostate cancer has received increased attention, specifically the STAT3 inhibitor. Our previous study reported that the neuroleptic drug pimozide had antitumor activity against hepatocellular carcinoma cells or stem-like cells through suppressing the STAT3 activity. In the present study we demonstrate that pimozide inhibits cell growth and cellular STAT3 activation in prostate cancer cells.

In this study we investigated the relationship between AQPs and a neuroprotective agent curcumin that was effective in the treatment of brain edema in mice with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).
Methods: ICH was induced in mice by autologous blood infusion.
Objective: Alterations in leptin expression contributes to the progression of various diseases, including cancers. This meta-analysis investigated the clinical significance of leptin levels in osteoarthritis (OA) patients, with the goal of building a leptin-based diagnostic criterion for OA.
Method: Multiple scientific databases in English and Chinese languages, such as the Cochrane Library Database, CINAHL, Chinese Biomedical (CBM), EMBASE, PubMed, and Web of Science, were exhaustively searched, without any language restrictions, to identify high-quality studies relevant to leptin and OA.
Necroptosis was reported as one backup way of programmed cell death when apoptosis was blocked, and the receptor interacting protein 1 was considered as the key necroptosis regulator protein. Here, we report the neuroprotective effects of curcumin which attenuates necroptosis. Primary cortical neurons were cultured and were injured by ferrous chloride, z.

In this study, our main purpose was to investigate whether dFGEN had an effect on glutamate-induced apoptosis in cultured PC12 cells. The PC12 cells were treated with different glutamate concentrations for 24 h in vitro.

Objective: To determine the effect of tanshinone IIA on the growth and apoptosis in human hepatoma cell line HepG2.
Methods: The human hepatoma cell line HepG2 was treated with tanshinone IIA at various concentrations for 72 h. The inhibition of proliferation was measured by MTT assay and apoptosis-related alterations in morphology measured by cytochemical staining (HT33258).

Aim: To investigate the effect of chronic lead exposure on rat hippocampal CA1 LTP and alpha-Ca2+ /calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (alpha-CaM K II) activity in vivo.
Methods: A stimulus bipolar electrode was placed on the Schaffer/Commissural fibers, with extra cellular microelectrode technique to record the population spike (PS) in the CA1 pyramidal, and we observed the changes of PS amplitude before and after the high frequency stimulation (HFS) of lower, mid and higher level lead exposure groups and the control group, respectively. The hippocampal CA1 alpha-CaM K II activity was determined by Western blots by using phosphorylation antibody.
