The partial pressures of carbon dioxide p(CO2) and methane p(CH4) in the surface water of seven urban lakes in Changchun city, China (Nan Lake, Bei Lake, Yanming Lake, Shengli, Dilisuo, Changchun, Tianjia) , have been studied in both summer and autumn related to the environment and water quality parameters. The results indicated that both in summer and autumn, CH4 of seven lakes was all supersaturated, and CO2 was all supersaturated except in Nan lake and Shengli lake. For either p( C02) or p( CH4), there was a significant difference among different urban lakes (P < 0.

Crop residue burning leads to atmospheric pollution and is an enormous waste of crop residue resource. Crop residue burning can be monitored timely in large regions as the fire points can be recognized through remotely sensed image via thermal infrared bands. However, the area, the detailed distribution pattern and especially the severity of the burning areas cannot be derived only by the thermal remote sensing approach.

A better understanding of their occurrence and degradation in the environment and during wastewater treatment processes will facilitate the development of strategies to reduce these pollutants and to bioremediate contaminated freshwater and soil. Phthalate esters occur at measurable levels in different environments worldwide.

The fresh waste activated sludge (WAS) from a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor was used to determine the performance of the lysozyme for promoting its biodegradability. The results showed that a strict linear relationship presented between the degree of disintegration (DDM) of WAS and the lysozyme incubation time from 0 to 240min (R(2) was 0.992, 0.

A bacterial strain C21 isolated from constructed wetland soil was identified as Arthrobacter sp. based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and physio-biochemical characteristics and was capable of utilizing di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) as a carbon and energy source for growth. Strain C21 can also utilize other phthalates (PAEs) up to a molecular weight of 390.

The study demonstrated the potential relationship between microbial community structure and membrane fouling in an anoxic-oxic membrane bioreactor (A/O-MBR). The results showed that the microbial community structure in biocake was different with aerobic mixture, and the dominant populations were out of sync during the fouling process. Based on microbial community structure and metabolites analysis, the results showed that the succession of microbial community might be the leading factor to the variation of metabolites, and it might be the primary cause of membrane fouling.
