Renal cell carcinoma is particularly sensitive to ferroptosis, an iron-dependent non-apoptotic form of cell death. This mechanism does not require activation of caspase or the participation of other apoptotic effector molecules (such as BAX or BAK), nor is it accompanied by the morphological characteristics or biochemical processes of apoptosis. The STEAP3 gene was found because it promotes tumor apoptosis in prostate cancer, but its role in renal cell carcinoma has not been studied in depth.

Nanoparticles are widely used in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industries, but their safety and genetic toxicity are still unclear. In this study, the genotoxicity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and titanium dioxide nanoparticles (titanium dioxide nanoparticles) were evaluated by in vitro comet assay and PIG-A assay in TK6 cells. We exposed TK6 cells to two types of nanoparticles at the highest concentration of 200 μmol/L for 4 h and conducted the in vitro comet assay.

Objective To identify the optimal mono-energetic enhanced spectral CT for renal cortex in cortical phase based on the iodine concentration. Methods Fifty patients with normal renal function received the abdominal enhanced spectral CT examination. The iodine concentration and CT values of the multiple mono-energetic spectral images were measured on renal cortex in cortical phase, and the correlation between the iodine concentration and the CT values and the coefficient of variation(CV)were analyzed.

In order to classify different types of health data collected in clinical practice of hernia surgery more effectively and improve the classification performance of support vector machine (SVM). A prospective randomized study was conducted. Sixty patients undergoing hernia repair under general anesthesia were randomly divided into two groups, PLMA group ( = 30) and ETT group ( = 30), for airway management.

Pituitary metastasis is a rare intracranial malignant tumor originated from other malignant tumors at other parts of the body.Pituitary metastases are typically hypervascular, while hypovascular pituitary metastasis is rare.Radiologically, hypovascular pituitary metastasis is difficult to be distinguished from pituitary adenoma.

Extracerebral cavernous hemangioma typically occurs in cavernous sinus in middle cranial fossa, showing iso-or hypointensity on T1WI,obvious hyperintensity on T2WI,and evident enhancement after contrast administration during magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).In this article we report one case of atypical cavernous hemangioma of the trigeminal nerve, with atypical MRI findings including isotense or slight long T2 signal, dotty short T1 signal, and non-enhancement on T1WI.

[Ependymoma in Sellar Region:Report of One Case].

Zhongguo Yi Xue Ke Xue Yuan Xue Bao

February 2019

Ependymoma arises from the ependymal cells of the ventricles and the ependymal cell nest in the white matter of the extra-ventricles. It may be located inside or outside ventricle and can be anatomically classified into supra- and infratentorial ependymomas. Supratentorial ependymoma can be found both inside and outside ventricle but is rarely seen in the sellar regio.

Peripheral neurogenic tumors can be featured by entering-and-exiting-nerve sign, which, however,is rarely seen in patients with spinal schwannoma. In this article we report a spinal schwannoma case with entering-and-exiting-nerve sign.

We reported a case of supratentorial extra-axial hemangioblastoma diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As a simple solid mass, this tumor has its unique MRI features due to its tissue structures.

Conventional contrast-enhanced T1WI is a useful tool for evaluating the choroid but can not be used to evaluate the retina due to its small blood supply. Contrast-enhanced T2 fluid-attenuated inversion recovery imaging(CE-T2FLAIR)is sensitive to low-concentration MRI contrast;however, its role in the diagnosis of macular edema has not been described. A patient with macular edema caused by retinal vein occlusion was diagnosed by CE-T2FLAIR in the Hainan Branch of Chinese PLA General Hospital from July 20,2017 to August 4,2017,and our findings confirmed that CE-T2FLAIR could provide valuable imaging evidence for the diagnosis and evaluation of macular edema.

Objective To investigate the difference of tumor textures presented on T1-weighted image(T1WI) and T2-weighted image(T2WI) between pancreatic serous cystadenoma and mucinous cystadenoma. Methods Subjects including 24 patients with serous cystadenoma and 20 patients with mucinous cystadenoma who were treated in Hainan Branch of Chinese PLA General Hospital were enrolled in this study. The texture analysis was performed on T1WI and T2WI,and the texture parameters included angular second moment, contrast, correlation, inverse difference moment(IDM),and entropy.

Objective To evaluate the role of minimum apparent diffusion coefficient(MinADC) values in peritumoral edema based on magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging in the differential diagnosis between primary central nervous system lymphoma(PCNSL) and glioblastoma(GBM).Methods ADC values in peritumoral edema were measured in 16 patients with PCNSL(diffuse large B cell lymphoma) and 31 patients with GBM(WHO grade 4) confirmed by pathology.Regions of interests were manually drawn on ADC maps on peritumoral edema regions to obtain the MinADC value.

Most interesting phenomena of condensed matter physics originate from interactions among different degrees of freedom, making it a very intriguing yet challenging question how certain ground states emerge from only a limited number of atoms in assembly. This is especially the case for strongly correlated electron systems with overwhelming complexity. The Verwey transition of FeO is a classic example of this category, of which the origin is still elusive 80 years after the first report.

This study is the first one investigating the correlation between the concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) in blood and semen qualities for residents in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region in China. Blood samples from 53 infertile volunteers were studied for measures of semen quality and 16 PAHs. Information on the study subjects' living habits (such as smoking, drinking and preference of consumption for food) and general information (age, body-mass-index (BMI) and educational background) were also collected.

Background And Aim: The relationship between neovasculature in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the prognosis of patients still remains controversial. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prognostic significance of morphologic features of the microvessels in patients with HCC after resection.

Methods: The paraffin-embedding specimens of 98 consecutive HCC patients, who received primary resection between 2000 and 2002, were collected from our prospective established tumor bank.

Owing to the risk of insertional mutagenesis, viral transduction has been increasingly replaced by nonviral methods to generate induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). We report the use of 'minicircle' DNA, a vector type that is free of bacterial DNA and capable of high expression in cells, for this purpose. Here we use a single minicircle vector to generate transgene-free iPSCs from adult human adipose stem cells.

Although the zinc finger transcription factor Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) has been shown to be a negative regulator of cell proliferation, the mechanisms underlying the posttranslational modification of KLF4, especially at the level of protein degradation, are poorly understood. Here, we show that KLF4 protein levels in quiescent cells were high, but decreased rapidly as cells entered the proliferating stage following serum stimulation. This decrease was partially reversed by pretreatment with MG132, a proteasome inhibitor.

15-Deoxy-Delta(12,14) prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2) is a natural ligand for the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma) that exhibits antiproliferative activity in colon cancer cells, but its mechanism of action is still poorly understood. In this study, we showed that Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) is one of the downstream effectors of 15d-PGJ2. Treatment of HT-29 cells with 15d-PGJ2 resulted in up-regulation of both KLF4 mRNA and protein expression, and these increases were also observed in other colon cancer cell lines.
