Age-related sarcopenia is a degenerative disease characterized by the decline in skeletal muscle mass and function during the aging process. Anabolic resistance, which refers to the diminished response of skeletal muscle to anabolic stimulation from leucine and other nutrients, is a significant contributing factor to its development. Recent studies have suggested that large neutral amino acid-transporter 1 (LAT1/SLC7A5) may play an important role in enhancing leucine's effects on protein synthesis in aging skeletal muscle.

The significant interest in perovskite oxides stems from their compositional and structural flexibility, particularly in the field of electrochemistry. In this study, the double E strategy (exsolution and electrodeposition strategies) is successfully devised for synthesizing perovskite-based bifunctional electrocatalysts, enabling simultaneous OER and HER applications with exceptional catalytic performance. The synthesized R-LCTFe/Ni catalyst exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic activity, delivering low overpotentials of 349 and 309 mV at 10 mA cm for OER and HER, respectively, indicating substantial improvements in the inherent electrocatalytic activity.

A series of indol-3-yl morpholino derivatives containing a hydrazone moiety were designed and synthesized using indole-3-carboxylic acid as the starting material. Introduction: We conducted analyses of the association between smoking and osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures using a secondary dataset analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database and the two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method.

Methods: The associations between smoking and osteoporosis or osteoporotic fractures were analyzed using weighted logistic regression models for both univariate and multivariable analyses using pooled 1999-2018 NHANES data. Mitophagy is a process that selectively removes excess or damaged mitochondria and plays an important role in regulating intracellular mitochondrial mass and maintaining mitochondrial energy metabolism. TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1) is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase, which is involved in the regulation of PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)/Parkin-dependent and -independent mitophagy. Recent studies have shown that TBK1 phosphorylates the autophagy related proteins, such as optineurin (OPTN), p62/sequestosome-1, Ras-related GTP binding protein 7 (Rab7), and mediates the binding of nuclear dot protein 52 (NDP52) to UNC-51 like autophagy activating kinase 1 (ULK1) complex, as well as the binding of TAX1-binding protein 1 (TAX1BP1) to microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3), thereby enhancing PINK1/Parkin-dependent mitophagy.

The g-CN (graphitic carbon nitride)/BiOI (bismuth oxyiodide) photocatalysts, boasting a unique nanomicrosphere architecture, were synthesized through a tripartite process involving heat polycondensation, hydrothermal treatment, and hybrid methods, using melamine, bismuth nitrate, and potassium iodide as starting materials. The photocatalyst was comprehensively characterized and analyzed while its efficacy in photocatalytic degradation of amaranth (AR) under various lighting conditions was investigated, and the catalytic mechanism was determined by kinetic analysis and free radical scavenging experiments. The results showed that g-CN formed a strong bond with BiOI.

Au-RGO/TiO nanotubes were prepared by anodic oxidation and electrochemical deposition, and their performance in the photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin was investigated. The results showed that, compared with TiO nanotubes and RGO/TiO nanotubes, the Au-RGO/TiO nanotubes had the highest ciprofloxacin degradation rate, reaching 96.93% in 180 min of photocatalysis.

As a key mechanism to maintain cellular homeostasis under stress conditions, autophagy/mitophagy is related to the occurrence of metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and other aging-related diseases, but the relevant signal pathways regulating autophagy have not been clarified. Mammalian sterile 20-like kinase 1 (MST1) is a central regulatory protein of many metabolic pathways involved in the pathophysiological processes of aging and aging-related diseases and has become a critical integrator affecting autophagic signaling. Recent studies show that MST1 not only suppresses autophagy through directly phosphorylating Beclin-1 and/or inhibiting the protein expression of silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) in the cytoplasm, but also inhibits BCL2/adenovirus E1B protein-interacting protein 3 (BNIP3)-, FUN14 domain containing 1 (FUNDC1)-, and Parkin (Parkinson protein 2)-mediated mitophagy by interacting with factors such as Ras association domain family 1A (RASSF1A).
