Refractory wounds are a severe complication of diabetes mellitus that often leads to amputation because of the lack of effective treatments and therapeutic targets. The pathogenesis of refractory wounds is complex, involving many types of cells. Rho-associated protein kinase-1 (ROCK1) phosphorylates a series of substrates that trigger downstream signaling pathways, affecting multiple cellular processes, including cell migration, communication, and proliferation.

Background: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) as the rate-limiting enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) is well-established as an aberrantly expressed protein in numerous clinical diseases; however, its role in cancer, specifically in multiple myeloma (MM) remains elusive.

Methods: In this study, serum metabolites in 70 normal people and 70 newly diagnosed MM patients were analyzed using untargeted metabolomics and the results were verified using ELISA. The survival analysis of multiple clinical datasets was performed to identify a potential target gene in MM.
