Ethnopharmacological Relevance: WenTongGanPi Decoction (WTGPD) is a representative medical practice of the Fuyang School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which originated from the classical Lu's Guizhi method. WTGPD places emphasis on the balance and functionality of yang qi, and is effective in treating TCM symptoms related to liver qi stagnation and spleen yang deficiency. In TCM, diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) is often diagnosed as liver depression and spleen deficiency, and the use of WTGPD has shown significant therapeutic effect.

Lupus nephritis (LN) is an autoimmune disease that rapidly progresses as a secondary consequence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and has a very poor prognosis. Therefore, this study aimed to identify characteristics of immune cell infiltration and investigate potential therapeutic targets using bioinformatics methods and the Murphy Roths Large/lymphoproliferation (MRL/lpr) mouse model. In this study, a total of 2,810 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, which were primarily enriched in inflammatory and immune regulation pathways.

Article Synopsis
  • T cell infiltration and differentiation play a crucial role in lupus nephritis (LN), which is a severe kidney condition often associated with lupus, and earlier studies indicated that cordyceps (WCP) may help protect the kidneys and reduce fibrosis.
  • This research aimed to explore how WCP affects the immune system in LN and how it works, using various laboratory techniques on lupus-prone mice over an 8-week treatment period.
  • Results showed that WCP significantly improved kidney health by lowering urinary proteins and harmful antibodies, enhancing kidney structure, and decreasing harmful T cell activity, suggesting that WCP could be a beneficial treatment for managing lupus nephritis.

Article Synopsis
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a serious pathogen known for its drug resistance, making rapid detection of this resistance essential for treatment.
  • Researchers used a deep neural network with MALDI-TOF-MS data to create a predictive tool for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to three antibiotics: Tobramycin, Cefepime, and Meropenem.
  • The predictive framework showed high accuracy, outperforming traditional methods, and identified potential AMR biomarkers, providing valuable insights for clinical decisions.
