Methods: Serum ferritin (SF) and dietary iron intake were selected to represent the indicators of iron load in the general population. PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science databases were searched for epidemiological studies assessing the impact of SF/dietary iron intake on MetS/NAFLD occurrence.
Aquatic ecosystems are primary repositories for microplastics (MPs), which pose significant risks to aquatic organisms. This study addresses the gap in understanding the effects of MPs pollution by analyzing 3,757 biological endpoints from 85 laboratory studies. Overall, our results indicate that MPs exposure significantly inhibits fish growth, survival, and reproductive ability, and increases oxidative damage, specifically, MPs exposure leads to elevated levels of malondialdehyde.

In this research, the ecotoxicity of VO to earthworms (Eisenia fetida) in soil was tested by exposure to VO at a series of doses, and biochemical response indices, such as the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzyme activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content, were analysed to determine the mechanism by which antioxidant enzymes respond to VO exposure.
