Purpose: To investigate the relationship between peripheral blood micronutrient levels and 4 kinds of oral mucosal diseases (minor recurrent aphthous ulcer, angular cheilitis, cheilitis and geographic tongue) in children aged 0~14 years.
Methods: One hundred and fifty-two children with oral mucosal lesions (COML) and 65 healthy children (health control group, HC) were included. The clinical data of each group were recorded separately to compare whether there existed differences in the levels of serum water-soluble vitamins (vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, C), serum fat-soluble vitamins [vitamins A, E, K, 25(OH)D2, 25(OH)D3], zinc and serum calcium.
The intensity of marine heatwaves is increasing due to climate change. Heatwaves may affect macroinvertebrates' bioturbating behavior in intertidal areas, thereby altering the deposition-erosion balance at tidal flats. Moreover, small-scale topographic features on tidal flats can create tidal pools during the low tide, thus changing the heat capacity of tidal flats.

The spilled oil will penetrate the sediments and accumulate to cause lethal or sublethal effects on the benthic invertebrates. An M-BACI experiment was manipulated in situ to assess the ecological responses of benthic macrofauna to different degrees of diesel oil spill.

Upon light irradiation, the fluorescence of nanofibers could be turned on to monitor both enzyme-instructed self-assembly and photo-induced disassembly processes. Moreover, the cell fate could be controlled through the photo-regulation.

To understand the current health status of this region, three surveys in 2011 for the abiotic conditions and macrobenthic assemblages were performed. The concentration of trace metals were relatively low in the sediment at all sampling stations representing a good sediment quality.

Here we report a multi-functional supramolecular hydrogel formed by the conjugate of the bioactive GRGDS peptide with biaryltetrazole that is the substrate of photo-click reaction. The hydrogel was used as a biocompatible matrix to encapsulate live cells for 3D culture.

The identification of target genes associated with miRNAs inside different cells is a major challenge in miRNA chemical biology due to the lack of functional miRNAs bearing appropriate tags. Here we report photoclickable miRNAs as appropriately pretagged miRNAs that keep the intracellular function of miRNAs and allow the addition of molecular handles through photoclick reaction.

Firstly, the modification on the side-chain carboxyl of bile acids was carried out efficiently by one-pot amidation of bile acids and a long-chain aliphatic amine in the presence of HOBt and DCC to introduce a flexible long hydrocarbon tail. Then the hydrophilic concave side of bile acids with hydroxyl groups was further modified into cationic groups for strengthening hydrophilicity.

The resulting biologically intriguing structures could have broad applications in related biomedical-program structures.

It is worth mentioning that in the course of this reaction, the formation of products was highly stereoselective. Two differently stereochemical classes of polysubstituted 2-piperidinones depended on the substitutent position of aromatic aldehyde.
