Article Synopsis
  • The demand for electricity is increasing due to economic and societal growth, leading to the development of smart grid technology.
  • Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) are crucial for managing energy demand and supply, particularly using efficient appliances like heat pumps for residential heating and cooling.
  • This paper presents a program using a Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) algorithm to minimize operational costs of heat pumps while ensuring comfort, and highlights that the Crossover Subswarm PSO variant achieved a significant cost saving of 25.61% over a five-day winter study in 2019.

Purpose: In this work, short-term effects of diesel fuel on Huangpu-Yangtze estuarine wetland soil microbial community structure were studied under simulated conditions through phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) analysis. Four native plant species, bulrush (Scirpus tripueter), galingale (Cyperus rotundus), wildrice (Zizania latifolia), and reed (Phragmites australis) were tested in the experiments.

Method: In the pot experiment, 20 g rhizosphere soils were mixed with 20 g diesel-blended soils.

The aim of this study was to determine the enhancement of Scirpus triqueter in the dissipation of pyrene and the interaction of pyrene with plant, soil enzymes and microbial community. The results indicated that the dissipation ratios of pyrene in the rhizospheric and non-rhizospheric soil were 64.65 ± 3.

The wetland ecological environment near Huangpu-Yangtze River Estuary (HYRE) is deteriorating more and more seriously due to oil spills. In this paper, the simulation experiment of degradation was conducted to restore the diesel pollution in soils where the decontaminating potential of indigenous hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms (HDMs) was evaluated with pot experiments and the co-activation between HDMs and native plant, Scirpus triqueter L.(STL), was investigated.
