HMGA2 is associated with the regulation of cellular biological processes in various human disorders and cancer progression, yet little is known about how HMGA2 controls tumorigenesis. This study uncovered the mechanism of HMGA2-mediated regulation of tumorigenicity in pancreatic cancer. We showed that HMGA2 was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer cells and correlated with poor prognosis.

Background And Purpose: Cholecystokinin (CCK) is secreted by intestinal I cells and regulates important metabolic functions. In pancreatic islets, CCK controls beta cell functions primarily through CCK1 receptors, but the signalling pathways downstream of these receptors in pancreatic beta cells are not well defined.

Experimental Approach: Apoptosis in pancreatic beta cell apoptosis was evaluated using Hoechst-33342 staining, TUNEL assays and Annexin-V-FITC/PI staining.

The tumor-promoting arm of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) receptor signaling contributes to advanced cancer progression and is considered a master regulator of breast cancer metastasis. In mammals, there are six distinct members in the tumor-necrosis factor receptor (TNFR)-associated factor (TRAF) family (TRAF1-TRAF6), with the function of TRAF4 not being extensively studied in the past decade. Although numerous studies have suggested that there is elevated TRAF4 expression in human cancer, it is still unknown in which oncogenic pathway TRAF4 is mainly implicated.
