Unlabelled: The association between phthalates exposure and childhood abdominal obesity is still unclear. This study aimed to assess phthalates (PAEs) exposure level and explore the association between PAEs metabolites exposure and the risk of abdominal obesity in Chinese students aged 7-10 years. A total of 798 students aged 7-10 years were selected from the baseline survey of the cohort of Childhood Blood Pressure and Environmental Factors (CBPEF), which was established in Xiamen City, Fujian province, East China, from August to November in 2018.

Chronic inflammation exerts pleiotropic effects in the aetiology and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Glucosamine is widely used in many countries and may have anti-inflammatory properties. We aimed to prospectively evaluate the association of regular glucosamine use with incident COPD risk and explore whether such association could be modified by smoking in the UK Biobank cohort, which recruited more than half a million participants aged 40-69 years from across the UK between 2006 and 2010.

Background: Candidate genes of neuromuscular junction (NMJ) pathway increased risk of frailty, but the extent and whether can be offset by exercises was unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between aerobic exercises and incident frailty regardless of NMJ pathway-related genetic risk.

Methods: A cohort study on participants from Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey was conducted from 2008 to 2011.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 is a major global concern, and understanding workers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is vital for control efforts; a study in a large Chinese factory assessed KAP using an online survey from February 2 to 7, 2020.
  • The study collected responses from 123,768 workers, revealing generally high levels of knowledge (16.3/20), attitudes (4.5/6), and practices (5.8/6) regarding COVID-19; however, many workers mistakenly believed that gargling salt water could protect against the virus.
  • Results indicated that older workers had lower knowledge and practice levels, while better-educated workers performed better; this highlights the need for targeted

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the impact of regular glucosamine use on overall and specific mortality rates among a large group of nearly 495,000 participants from the UK Biobank.
  • During an average follow-up of about 8.9 years, results showed that glucosamine users had significantly lower risks of dying from all causes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and respiratory or digestive diseases.
  • The benefits of glucosamine were found to be even more pronounced in current smokers compared to non-smokers, suggesting that glucosamine supplementation may be particularly advantageous for individuals with higher health risks.

Article Synopsis
  • Research shows a strong link between obesity and high blood pressure (BP), but how they are connected is still unclear.
  • The study involved 1,221 overweight or obese adults from Beijing, examining how inflammatory factors and adipokines influence this relationship, with a focus on differences between sexes.
  • Results indicated that in males, leptin influenced the connection between body fat and BP, while in females, hsCRP played a key role, highlighting the need for sex-specific approaches to managing obesity-related high BP.

To examine accuracy of body composition predicted by the Multi-Frequency Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (MF-BIA) compared with the Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) in adults with obese. We measured body composition of 749 adults with obese both by the MF-BIA and DXA. The Lin's concordance correlation and the Bland-Altman plots were used to examine the consistency.
