The Very Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor (VLDLR) is an entry receptor for the prototypic alphavirus Semliki Forest Virus (SFV). However, the precise mechanisms underlying the entry of SFV into cells mediated by VLDLR remain unclear. In this study, we found that of the eight class A (LA) repeats of the VLDLR, only LA2, LA3, and LA5 specifically bind to the native SFV virion while synergistically promoting SFV cell attachment and entry.

This study established a pyroptosis injury model by stimulating insulinoma cells(INS-1) of rats with high glucose(HG) and observed the impact of additional ethanol(ET) exposure on cell pyroptosis, as well as the intervention effect of salidroside(SAL). INS-1 cells were cultured and divided into a normal control group(NG), an HG group, an HG + ET(100 mmol·L~(-1)) group, and an HG + ET + SAL(1-100 μmol·L~(-1)) group. After 72 hours of treatment, cell viability was assessed using the cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) assay.

When chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) of tantalum (Ta)-based barrier layers is done through silicon via (TSV), it is necessary to control the rate selection of copper (Cu) and Ta to prevent the formation of dishing pit formation due to the rapid removal rate (RR) of copper in the via compared to tantalum outside the via. This paper selected 2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole (TAMZ) as an inhibitor, which has the dual effect of reducing the RR of Cu and increasing the RR of Ta. The experimental results show that the rate selection ratio of Cu and Ta is up to 2.

Dianbu River, flowing into the western part of Chaohu Lake, has been heavily polluted, and nitrogen is one of the key factors. During three periods (wet, normal, and dry), 30 surface water samples were collected from the Dianbu River Basin as the research objects. The water chemistry, multiple stable isotopes (N-NO, O-NO, and N-NH), and a SIAR mixing model were analyzed not only to understand the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of nitrogen and its influencing factors but also the sources of nitrogen.

Article Synopsis
  • Yellow catfish, a vital aquaculture species in China with an annual output of 565,000 tons, faced high mortality rates from May to July 2022 at a farm near Futou Lake, with fish showing severe symptoms like ascites and skin ulcers.
  • Researchers used PCR and sequence analyses to identify co-infection with Yellow Catfish Calicivirus (YcCV) and found abundant virus particles in infected kidney and spleen cells.
  • This study is the first to link ascites disease in yellow catfish to YcCV co-infection, indicating a potential synergistic effect between the virus and bacterial pathogens that could worsen disease severity in aquaculture.

Underwater fish object detection serves as a pivotal research direction in marine biology, aquaculture management, and computer vision, yet it poses substantial challenges due to the complexity of underwater environments, occultations, and the small-sized and frequently moving fish in aquaculture. Addressing these challenges, we propose a novel underwater fish object detection algorithm named Fish-Finder. First, we engendered a structure titled "C2fBF," utilizing the dual-path routing attention protocol of BiFormer.

The cell fate of primordial germ cells (PGCs) in zebrafish is pre-determined by maternally deposited germ plasm, which is packaged into ribonucleoprotein complex in oocytes and inherited into PGCs-fated cells in embryos. However, the maternal factors regulating the assembly of germ plasm and PGC development remain poorly understood. In this study, we report that the maternal transcription factor Znf706 regulates the assembly of germ plasm factors into a granule-like structure localized perinuclearly in PGCs during migration.

African swine fever virus (ASFV), which poses significant risks to the global economy, encodes a unique host-independent transcription system. This system comprises an eight-subunit RNA polymerase (vRNAP), temporally expressed transcription factors and transcript associated proteins, facilitating cross-species transmission via intermediate host. The protein composition of the virion and the presence of transcription factors in virus genome suggest existence of distinct transcription systems during viral infection.

Article Synopsis
  • - Tracheobronchial injuries are serious and often misdiagnosed; larger injuries are harder to heal, leading to a variety of treatment options.
  • - A case of a 63-year-old man with a severe 4-cm tracheobronchial tear post-surgery was effectively treated with conservative measures including oxygen, pain management, antibiotics, and nutritional support.
  • - The patient healed completely in four weeks with no complications, highlighting that conservative treatment can be a successful approach for significant tracheal injuries, especially in older patients with other health issues.

Graph Contrastive Learning (GCL) has recently emerged as a promising graph self-supervised learning framework for learning discriminative node representations without labels. The widely adopted objective function of GCL benefits from two key properties: alignment and uniformity, which align representations of positive node pairs while uniformly distributing all representations on the hypersphere. The uniformity property plays a critical role in preventing representation collapse and is achieved by pushing apart augmented views of different nodes (negative pairs).

Article Synopsis
  • The study addresses the challenge of converting CO2 to methane (CH4) using solar energy by modifying g-C3N4 with different types of phosphotungstates (PWx).
  • It finds that higher lacunae in phosphotungstates increase the selectivity and yield of CH4, with PW9/g-C3N4 achieving 80% selectivity and a rate of 40.8 μmol·g-1·h-1.
  • The conversion process involves a two-step catalytic mechanism where CO2 is activated by g-C3N4 to form *CO intermediates, which are then converted to CH4 through interactions with the modified phosphotungstates.

ConspectusPorous metal phosphonate frameworks (PMPFs) as a subclass of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have promising applications in the fields of gas adsorption and separation, ion exchange and storage, catalysis, sensing, etc. Compared to the typical carboxylate-based MOFs, PMPFs exhibit higher thermal and water stability due to the strong coordination ability of the phosphonate ligands. Despite their robust frameworks, PMPFs account for less than 0.

Intermolecular interactions and adsorbate coverage on a metal electrode's surface/interface play an important role in CO reduction reaction (CORR). Herein, the activity and selectivity of CORR on bimetallic electrode, where a full monoatomic Cu layer covers on Ag surface (Cu/Ag) are investigated by using density functional theory calculations. The surface geometric and electronic structure results indicate that there is high electrocatalytic activity for CORR on the Cu/Ag electrode.

Saponins are an important class of active components in Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs), which are present in large quantities in , , , etc., and have immune regulation, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-cardiovascular disease, and hypoglycemic activities. Storage and processing are essential processes in the production process of CHMs which affect the stability of saponin components and then reduce the medicinal and economic value.
