Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) exhibits a high recurrence rate, and early recurrence significantly jeopardizes patient prognosis, necessitating reliable methods for early recurrence prediction.
Methods: Utilizing multi-institutional data and integrating deep learning (DL) techniques, we established a neural network based on DenseNet capable of concurrently processing patients' triphasic enhanced CT scans. By incorporating an attention mechanism, the model automatically focuses on regions that significantly impact patient survival.
Metal ions are indispensable to life, as they can serve as essential enzyme cofactors to drive fundamental biochemical reactions, yet paradoxically, excess is highly toxic. Higher-order cells have evolved functionally distinct organelles that separate and coordinate sophisticated biochemical processes to maintain cellular homeostasis upon metal ion stimuli. Here, we uncover the remodeling of subcellular architecture and organellar interactome in yeast initiated by several metal ion stimulations, relying on near-native three-dimensional imaging, cryo-soft X-ray tomography.

One hundred and eighty-six twins are recruited and played as responders in the Ultimatum Game (UG) while undergoing fMRI scanning in their early adulthood (Study-1) and are measured on depressive symptoms eight years later (Study-2). With computational modeling, the process of norm adaptation is differentiated from that of fairness valuation in UG.

This study aimed to find factors predicting postoperative complications and construct an innovative nomogram to pinpoint patients who were susceptible to developing severe complications following breakthrough infection of COVID-19 after undergoing elective hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective cohort study included consecutive patients who underwent elective hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeries between January 3 and April 1, 2023 from four hospitals in China.
Background: Pulmonary emphysema is a part of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is an irreversible chronic respiratory disease. In order to avoid further damage to lung tissue, early diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary emphysema is essential.
Purpose: Early pulmonary emphysema diagnosis is difficult with conventional radiographic imaging.

In this work, we tackle the task of estimating the 6D pose of an object from point cloud data. While recent learning-based approaches have shown remarkable success on synthetic datasets, we have observed them to fail in the presence of real-world data. We investigate the root causes of these failures and identify two main challenges: The sensitivity of the widely-used SVD-based loss function to the range of rotation between the two point clouds, and the difference in feature distributions between the source and target point clouds.

With the continuous development of materials science, electrospun nanofiber scaffolds loaded with metal-based nanoparticles provide new ideas and methods for research into new tissue engineering materials due to their excellent antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing abilities. In this review, the stages of extracellular matrix and wound healing, electrospun nanofiber scaffolds, metal-based nanoparticles, and metal-based nanoparticles supported by electrospun nanofiber scaffolds are reviewed, and their characteristics and applications are introduced.

Herein, we map the spatial location of label-free citrate-coated Ag nanoparticles (Cit-AgNPs) and the corresponding subcellular reorganization in microalgae by a noninvasive 3D imaging approach, cryo-soft X-ray tomography (cryo-SXT). Cryo-SXT near-natively displays the 3D maps of Cit-AgNPs presenting in rarely identified sites, namely, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and the cytoplasm.

H has been shown to effectively protect cells and tissues from oxidative and inflammatory damage. While comprehensive effects and how H functions in wound healing remains unknown, especially for the link between H and extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition and epidermal stem cells (EpSCs) activation.

Off-line fluorescence microscopies (FMs) are combined to identify the type of organelles and status of cells. However, deformation and displacement usually occur during the transfer and loading process, which decreases the precision of two-modal images' registration.

Such chronic wounds are uneven and complex due to persistent abscess and ulceration. Without external intervention, they can easily result in local tissue necrosis or, in severe cases, large area tissue resection, amputation, and even death.

However, the derivatives of the eigenvectors tend to be numerically unstable, whether using the SVD to compute them analytically or using the Power Iteration (PI) method to approximate them. This instability arises in the presence of eigenvalues that are close to each other.

Many classical Computer Vision problems, such as essential matrix computation and pose estimation from 3D to 2D correspondences, can be tackled by solving a linear least-square problem, which can be done by finding the eigenvector corresponding to the smallest, or zero, eigenvalue of a matrix representing a linear system. Incorporating this in deep learning frameworks would allow us to explicitly encode known notions of geometry, instead of having the network implicitly learn them from data. However, performing eigendecomposition within a network requires the ability to differentiate this operation.

Researchers have not clearly determined whether changes in spontaneous brain activity within and beyond the CSTC circuitry coexist in medication-free patients with OCD. To address this question, we recruited 64 medication-free patients with OCD and 60 matched healthy controls (HCs) to investigate their spontaneous brain activity by measuring the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) and resting-state functional connectivity.
