This study aimed to identify factors associated with optimal weight loss response by analyzing pre-weight loss data from a cohort of 2577 patients with obesity who visited weight management clinics between 2013 and 2022. Out of these, 1276 patients had follow-up data available. Following dietary and exercise interventions, 580 participants achieved optimal weight loss outcomes.

It is believed that energy metabolism-related genes could play an important role in etiology of NSCLC. In this study, we sought to assess the correlation between three LEPR single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs1137101, rs1137100 and rs6588147) with NSCLS susceptibility.

Nitrite concentrations in the PNM are relatively low in the western North Pacific subtropical gyre (wNPSG), where eddies are frequent and intense. To explain these low nitrite concentrations, we investigated nitrification in cyclonic eddies in the wNPSG.

Due to the trend of multi-function, integration, and miniaturization of electronics, traditional dielectric materials are difficult to satisfy new requirements, such as balanced dielectric properties and good designability. Therefore, high dielectric polymer composites have attracted wide attention due to their outstanding processibility, good designability, and dielectric properties. A number of polymer composites are employed in capacitors and sensors.

One challenge associated with these wearable electronics is the development of materials with both high dielectric permittivity and anisotropic light transmission, which is responsible for high touch sensitivity and screen peep-proof protection, respectively. Herein, we demonstrated a scalable approach for assembling and aligning anisotropic cellulose in a polymer matrix through the thickness direction via the assistance of an electric field to address this challenge.

Esophageal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is one of the two main types in esophageal cancer. MicroRNA is a small non-coding RNA molecule functions in many different cancers including esophageal cancer. We found miR-502 was up-regulated in esophageal tissues, which indicated miRNA-502 may play important roles in esophageal cancer.

However, little is known about expression pattern and underlying functions of YB-1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, we report that up-regulated YB-1 is closely correlated with TNM stage and tumor size in ESCC specimens and predicts a poor prognosis in ESCC patients.

Objective: To analyze the combined features of serum biomarker of exercise-intervened type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rats at different time point.
Methods: Ninety SD rats randomly selected from 100 were fed with high glucose and fat diet for 4 weeks, and then received intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(STZ) according to 40 mg/kg by weight; after modeling for one week, Seventy-one rats were successfully modeled among which intervened with swimming at three different time points (2w, 4w and 8w). Eighty-one rats were finally divided into 8 groups as below:Normal control group (C,=10);DM model comparison group (DC,=10); DM model comparison 2w group (DC, =11); DM model comparison 4w group (DC, =10); DM model comparison 8w group (DC, =9); DM exercise intervention 2w group (DE, =11); DM exercise intervention 4w group (DE, =10); DM exercise intervention 8w group (DE, =11).
Berberine was reported to protect against the intestinal injury and improve the survival rate in sepsis, and glutamine deficiency was considered to be correlated with mortality in sepsis. We found that berberine pretreatment ameliorated lipopolysaccharide-induced direct intestinal injury and mucosal hypoplasia and attenuated impairments of intestinal glutamine transport and glutaminase activity, B(0)AT1 mRNA and protein expressions, and glutaminase protein expression. These findings showed the first time that berberine pretreatment could improve intestinal recovery and attenuate the impairment of glutamine transport and glutaminase activity in rat sepsis.

Background: It is the main choice that neoadjust chemotherapy following surgery and induction chemotherapy following radiation therapy for locally advanced lung cancer. The aim of this study is to explore the selection of operation or synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy for stage III non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after induction chemotherapy.
Methods: After two cycles of induction chemotherapy, patients with stage III NSCLC were divided at random into synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy group or operation therapy group for therapy by the chemotherapy effect PR or CR, or estimated complete excision; and patients accepting complete excision operation continuously accepted two cycles of chemotherapy according to original proposal.
Background: Alveolar type II (ATII) cells are capable of repairing the alveolar epithelium injury induced by lung ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI). In the present study, we aim to dynamically investigate the morphological and functional alternations of ATII cells using a long-term survival model of rat LIRI.
Materials And Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into sham and ischemia-reperfusion (IR) groups.
Background: In patients with central lung cancer, lobectomy can be achieved without pneumonectomy by surgical reconstruction of the pulmonary artery (PA). Herein, we report our clinical experience of 34 patients who had lobectomy with PA reconstruction, including perioperative administration, morbidity, mortality, and long-term survival.
Patients And Methods: The clinical records of 34 patients who received lobectomy with PA reconstruction in our department between August 2003 and September 2005 were reviewed.
Background: To summarize the surgical treatment for locally advanced lung cancer invading heart and great vessels.
Methods: One hundred and eighteen cases of lung cancer accepting cardiovascular plasty operation from 1980 to 2001 were reviewed.
Results: The operations included partial resection of left atrium in 38 cases, pulmonary artery resection and restruction in 48 cases, replacement or partial resection of superior vena cava in 25 cases, partial resection of pulmonary conus in 3 cases, and lober replantation in 4 cases respectively.
