Atherosclerosis (ATH) represents a major cause of cardiovascular disease. Long noncoding RNA (LncRNA) myocardin-induced smooth muscle lncRNA, inducer of differentiation (MYOSLID) and microRNA (miR) -29c-3p show substantial roles in ATH. We investigated their regulatory mechanisms on vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and migration.

Oyster protein (OP) and its hydrolysates have been used for centuries to address male erectile dysfunction, however the mechanisms and evidence supporting their efficacy remain unclear. In this study, OP was hydrolyzed using trypsin to produce peptides that inhibit PDE-5.

Based on small yellow croaker () catch survey data obtained from 15 fishing ports along the coast of the East China Sea, we examined the proportion of large yellow croakers mixed in the small yellow croaker catch and their biological parameters. In addition, we analyzed the differences in the intestinal microbiota and feeding ecology between these two species to explore the reason why the stock enhancement program failed to achieve the desired outcome.

Through triaxial shear tests on soft rock at various confining pressures, we observed the failure characteristics transitioning from strain softening to strain hardening as confining pressure increases. An improved Hoek-Brown strength criterion has been proposed to characterize the critical confining pressure effect of soft rock, with tensile strength in the tensile zone aligning with experimental results, showing an error of less than 5%.

High-efficient water-saving irrigation (HEI) technologies have showed positive effects on crop yield, especially with long-term application in salinized soil fields. However, the microbial mechanisms and influential pathways that promote crop yield and reduce salinity under consecutive HEI remain unclear.

Purpose: To analyze the effect of n-HA/chitosan/minocycline composite scaffold in the animal model of peri-implant inflammatory bone defect.
Methods: Twelve healthy adult male beagle dogs were selected to construct the model of peri-implant inflammatory bone defect. The control group(n=6) underwent bone regeneration by alveolar self-healing without any treatment in the bone defect area.
Metal-containing nanoparticles (MNPs) ubiquitously exist in the environment and organisms, playing distinct roles in the fate and toxicity of metals. However, the extraction and analysis of the MNPs in biological samples is still a great challenge and the interferences of other metal species and complex matrices remains unclear. In this work, we established a method for efficient extraction and accurate analysis of MNPs in biological samples to eliminate the interference caused by metal ions and biological matrices based on the alkali extraction and single particle mode inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SP-ICP-MS).

Here, direct dehydrogenation of ethane is engineered electrochemically to produce ethylene and hydrogen in a proton-conducting electrolysis cell, achieving over 50% ethane conversion and 90.42% ethylene selectivity at 700 °C.

In this paper, we propose a metal artifact suppression method containing 8 steps based on the idea of sinogram restoration. The method has been applied to the slice images of several metal objects and the effects before and after metal artifact suppression have been compared to verify the effectiveness of the method.

Despite wetlands' significant nutrient removal potential, process-based assessments of nutrient removal in large-scale coastal wetlands face limitations that hinder accurate quantification of water quality improvements. This study proposes a novel quantitative approach by developing a coupled hydrodynamic-water quality-wetland biogeochemical model.

The I-III-VI QDs Ag-In-S (AIS) exhibits excellent properties in photocatalysis because of the adjustable band gap, wide light absorption range, and multiple active sites. Introducing homologous or heterogeneous ions not only derives the composition into quaternary/ quinary quantum dots but also generates new sulfide QDs to form composites, which is an effective strategy to promote photoactivity. In this work, we in-situ synthesized the AIS/ZIS (AgInS/ZnInS) composite photocatalyst by introducing Zn and changing the reaction temperature.

There is substantial evidence linking gut microbes to depression, anxiety, and endocrinology.
Results: The gut bacterial phenotype of patients with Cushing's disease was significantly different from that of the control group, and when the mice were treated with fecal bacteria from these patients, both anxiety- and depression-like behavior were significantly increased.
The Aurivillius phase layered perovskite ferroelectric material SrBiTiO (SBTO) exhibits spontaneous polarization and piezoelectric properties, which confer significant potential for piezo-photocatalysis. Its ability to enhance electron-hole separation while providing excellent fatigue resistance positions it as a promising candidate in this field. Defects were introduced to improve the structural polarization and photoelectrochemical properties of SBTO.

Based on genomic analysis of ECC patient samples, here we report that aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C1 (AKR1C1) is highly expressed in human ECC tissues and closely associated with ECC progression and poor prognosis. Intriguingly, we show that inducible AKR1C1 knockdown triggers ECC cells to undergo ferroptosis.

Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the ecohydrological dynamics of vegetation growth's impact on Terrestrial Water Storage (TWS) trends across the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Exploring vegetation growth's effect on TWS utilizes remote sensing and statistical methods such as generalized additive model (GAM), random forest, Mann-Kendall test, Sen's slope, and Partial correlation coefficient.

We systematically investigate the impact of water content, dry density, and freeze-thaw cycles (with a freezing temperature set at -10°C) on the thermal conductivity of stabilized soil, a crucial parameter for analyzing soil temperature fields that is influenced by numerous factors. By developing and validating both empirical and machine learning prediction models, we unravel the evolution of thermal conductivity in response to these factors: within the range of influencing variables, thermal conductivity exhibits an exponential or linear increase with rising water content and dry density, while it decreases exponentially with increasing freeze-thaw cycles.
