Peach is one of the most perishable fruits. During forced-convection cooling, the heat sources (respiratory and evaporative latent heat) internal to freshly harvested peaches have a remarkable influence on its evaluation of cooling characteristics with respect to various cooling strategies. Therefore, to improve the accuracy of simulation results in peaches cooling, the term of heat source was coded as detailed procedures and included into a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model.

Background: Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is the most important cause of epidemic encephalitis in most Asian regions. There is no specific treatment available for Japanese encephalitis, and vaccination is the only effective way to prevent JEV infection in humans and domestic animals. The purpose of this study is to establish a new mammalian cell line stably and efficiently expressing virus-like particle of JEV for potential use of JEV subunit vaccine.

Article Synopsis
  • The study identifies and maps linear B-cell epitopes in the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) non-structural protein 1 (NS1), which is important for virus replication and immune response.
  • Researchers generated eleven NS1-specific monoclonal antibodies and screened 51 overlapping peptides to find five key linear epitopes that are conserved among different JEV strains.
  • These novel epitopes are unique to JEV NS1, showing no cross-reactivity with NS1 proteins from other flaviviruses, and could aid in creating targeted vaccines and diagnostic tests.
