Background: Protocadherin 10 (PCDH 10), a member of the superfamily of protocadherins, is a Ca2-dependent homophilic cell-cell adhesion molecule expressed on the surface of cell membranes. Protocadherin 10 plays a critical role in the central nervous system including in cell adhesion, formation and maintenance of neural circuits and synapses, regulation of actin assembly, cognitive function and tumor suppression. Additionally, Pcdh10 can serve as a non-invasive diagnostic and prognostic indicator for various cancers.

There are no universal guidelines for rehabilitation after saucerization for children with discoid lateral meniscus. This study determined if short-term knee splint immobilization and delayed rehabilitation produces the same benefit as early rehabilitation after saucerization in children, in terms of knee function and pain intensity. A retrospective review was performed by categorizing patients into 2 groups depending on whether a splint immobilization was adopted postoperatively: for group A, rehabilitation began early without splint immobilization after surgery, and for group B, a knee splint was immobilized for 2 weeks.

The poor interfacial stability and insufficient cycling performance caused by undesirable stress hinder the commercial application of silicon microparticles (µSi) as next-generation anode materials for high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a conceptionally novel physicochemical dual cross-linking conductive polymeric network is designed combining high strength and high toughness by coupling the stiffness of poly(acrylic acid) and the softness of carboxyl nitrile rubber, which includes multiple H-bonds, by introducing highly branched tannic acid as a physical cross-linker. Such a design enables effective stress dissipation by folded molecular chains slipping and sequential cleavage of H-bonds, thus stabilizing the electrode interface and enhancing cycle stability.

Toxic cardiotonic steroids (CTS) act as a defense mechanism in many firefly species (Lampyridae) by inhibiting a crucial enzyme called Na,K-ATPase (NKA). While most fireflies produce these toxins internally, species of the genus acquire them from a surprising source: predation on other fireflies. The contrasting physiology of toxin exposure and sequestration between and other firefly genera suggests that distinct strategies may be required to prevent self-intoxication.

The purpose of this study was to compare outcomes between percutaneous K-wire reduction cast immobilization (PKRC) and percutaneous K-wire reduction elastic intramedullary nailing combined with cast immobilization (PKRNC) for the treatment of radial neck fractures in children. This was a retrospective analysis of 62 radial neck fractures in children treated with PKRC or PKRNC. Thirty-one children were treated with percutaneous K-wire reduction, K-wire removal after reduction, and cast immobilization while 31 radial neck fractures in controls were managed using PKRNC.
