Organic room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials with ultralong lifetime possess the remarkable advantage in bioimaging for elimination of background noise by characteristic time scale. However, most of RTP luminogens need to be excited by the harmful ultraviolet (UV) lamp, and exhibit green or yellow emission with shallow tissue penetration, constraining the in vivo bioimaging for further application in clinical diagnosis and pathological study. In this text, the much safer excitation process by sunlight and mobile phone flashlight is realized by organic luminogens with various electronic pull-push systems.

X-ray microscopes are powerful tools in the nano-inspection of materials owing to their ultra-high resolution at the molecular level. However, the focusing efficiency of binary zone plate lenses as key components in such probes is merely 5% in practice, hindering their application in advanced scientific research. Although kinoform zone plate lenses are in principle supposed to possess high efficiency beyond binary ones, little progress has been reported so far due to the shortage of both a theoretical calculation approach and greyscale lithography for generating fine three-dimensional (3D) kinoform zones of the lenses.

To explore the interaction between the residual antibiotic in animal manure and biological treatment, the effect of enrofloxacin (ENR) on the anaerobic digestion of chicken manure, and biodegradation rate of ENR was studied under the condition of actual residual ENR content of 0, 8, 16 and 32 mg/kg·TS. The results showed that the addition of ENR increased the total biogas production, especially 8 mg/kg·TS promoted the anaerobic reaction obviously, and the corresponding cumulative biogas production was increased by 15.33%.

Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) holds growing promise in deep-seated or large solid tumor treatment owing to its high tissue penetration depth ability; however, its therapeutic efficacy is often compromised due to the hypopermeable and hypoxic characteristics in the tumor milieu. Herein, a semiconducting polymer nanoparticle (SPNC) that synergistically enhances tumor penetration and alleviates tumor hypoxia is reported for sonodynamic therapy of large solid tumors. SPNC comprises a semiconducting polymer nanoparticle core as a sonodynamic converter coated with a poly (ethylene glycol) corona.

We sought to clarify the clinical relationship between REST/NRSF expression and the prognosis of glioma and explore the REST-associated competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in glioma. We downloaded RNA-seq, miRNA-seq and correlated clinical data of 670 glioma patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas and analyzed the correlation between REST expression, clinical characteristics and prognosis. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified with DESeq2 and analyzed with Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) using the Profiler package.

This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic potential of a novel RFO model in differentiating GBM and SBM with multiparametric MR sequences collected from 244 (131 GBM and 113 SBM) patients. Three basic volume of interests (VOIs) were delineated on the conventional axial MR images (TWI, TWI, T_FLAIR, and CE_TWI), including volumetric non-enhanced tumor (nET), enhanced tumor (ET), and peritumoral edema (pTE). Using the RFO model, radiomics features extracted from different multiparametric MRI sequence(s) and VOI(s) were fused and the best sequence and VOI, or possible combinations, were determined.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is a promising strategy in cancer immunotherapy to induce high immunogenicity and activate the immune system. However, its efficacy is counteracted by the concurrent exposure of phosphatidylserine (PS), an immunosuppressive signal on the surface of cancer cells.
