The efficient photocatalytic breakage of C-C bonds has great significance for the valorization of lignin into value-added aromatic chemicals, but remains challenging owing to their demanding depolymerization conditions and high bond dissociation energies. In this study, the Z-scheme heterojunction HPMoVO/g-CN (HPA/CN) photocatalyst was elaborately developed for the selective and efficient cleaving of C-C bonds in real lignin and its β-O-4 models under mild conditions. The construction of Z-scheme heterojunction with irregular sheet micromorphology not only enhanced the charge separation and redox abilities, but also broadened the light absorption range and promoted charge-to-surface transfer in two redox components.

Developing stable and efficient photothermal agents (PTAs) for the second near-infrared window (NIR-II, 1 000-1700 nm) photothermal therapy (PTT) is highly desirable but remains challenging. Herein, a facile strategy to prepare NIR-II nano-PTA based on the ionic N-doped nanographene hexapyrrolohexaazacoronene (HPHAC) is reported featuring a specific orbicular-donor-acceptor (O-D-A) structure. Oxidizing HPHAC 1 to dication 1 causes a substantial decrease in its band gap, leading to a shift in absorption from the confined UV region to a broad absorption range that reaches up to 1400 nm.

This study investigates the enhancement of ozone adsorption on diverse TiO crystal interfaces through an innovative electrochemical modulation approach. The research focuses on the effects of applied electric field strength and reaction sites on ozone interfacial adsorption energies for Ti/Anatase TiO (0 0 1) and Ti/Rutile TiO (1 1 0) interfaces. The findings reveal that positive electric fields significantly enhance ozone adsorption on both interfaces, with adsorption energies increasing by up to 18% for Ti/Anatase TiO (0 0 1) and 15% for Ti/Rutile TiO (1 1 0).
