Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the real-world usage of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) among type 2 diabetes patients in China using data from 18 hospitals between 2016 and 2020.
  • Researchers analyzed patient records to assess clinical outcomes and identify factors influencing the use of daily versus weekly GLP-1RA treatments.
  • Results showed that both treatment regimens significantly reduced HbA1c levels after 6 and 12 months, with weekly GLP-1RA proving to be more effective, alongside improvements in cholesterol profiles and a reduction in hypoglycemia rates.

Earthworms are used to cure wounds in Chinese villages for thousands of years. Recently, scientists realized their extracts could promote wound healing and they have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-apoptosis, and anti-microbial properties, but its mechanism of promoting wound healing remains unclear. In the presented study, electronic literature databases and LC-MS/MS were used to determine earthworms' ingredients and differential metabolites.

Objective: To explore how the timing of the initial dressing change influences bacterial growth when alginate dressings were used after peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line insertion in tumor patients.

Methods: In total, 186 tumor patients who had an alginate dressing after PICC insertion were randomly divided into a control group, observation group one (OG1), and observation group two (OG2). The control group had their first dressing change 48 h after PICC insertion, while OG1 was after 72 h and OG2 was after 96 h after.

It is of great significance to understand the pattern of soil respiration rate in fragmented forests for further revealing terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycling. With different habitats (island . mainland, island edge island interior) of the artificial land-bridge island system in Thousand Island Lake (TIL) region as the objects, we analyzed the seasonal dynamics of soil respiration rate and its relationships with soil physicochemical factors.

Introduction: Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) are widely used oral antidiabetic agents that exert antihyperglycemic effects in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) without increased risk of weight gain or hypoglycemic events. The objective of this paper was to systematically review the latest evidence that was associated with the pharmacoeconomic evaluation of DPP-4i for the treatment of patients with T2DM.

Areas Covered: We conducted a systematic literature search of eligible articles published since inception up to March 2021 in Web of Science, MEDLINE (via PubMed), and ECONLIT.

The study aims to solve the problems of limited capacity and difficult recovery of lignite to adsort Cu, Zn and Pb in acid mine wastewater (AMD). Magnetically modified lignite (MML) was prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method. Static beaker experiments and dynamic continuous column experiments were set up to explore the adsorption properties of Cu, Zn and Pb by lignite and MML.

Budget impact analysis (BIA) is an economic assessment that estimates the financial consequences of adopting a new intervention. BIA is used to make informed reimbursement decisions, as a supplement to cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs). We systematically reviewed BIA studies associated with anti-diabetic drugs and assessed the extent to which international BIA guidelines were followed in these studies.

Background: Postoperative paralytic ileus prolongs hospitalization duration, increases medical expenses, and is even associated with postoperative mortality; however, effective prevention of postoperative paralytic ileus is not yet available. This trial aimed to assess the preventative effectiveness of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation applied in the lower limbs on postoperative paralytic ileus incidence after colorectal surgery.

Methods: After ethics approval and written informed consent, 610 patients from 10 hospitals who were scheduled for colorectal surgery between May 2018 and September 2019 were enrolled.

: As a novel glucagon-like peptide-1receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) for type 2 diabetes (T2D) treatment, the economic value of once-weekly semaglutide had been assessed in several country settings. The authors' objective was to systematically review the existing pharmacoeconomic literature evaluating the cost-effectiveness associated with once-weekly semaglutide compared with other GLP-1 RAs and provide implications for further researches.: We conducted a systematic literature review of cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) published up to 25 July 2020 in PubMed, web of science, and the ISPOR presentation database, compared once-weekly semaglutide with other GLP-1 RAs in T2D.

Since the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in Wuhan City, China, pediatric cases have gradually increased. It is very important to prevent cross-infection in pediatric fever clinics, to identify children with fever in pediatric fever clinics, and to strengthen the management of pediatric fever clinics. According to prevention and control programs, we propose the guidance on the management of pediatric fever clinics during the nCoV pneumonia epidemic period, which outlines in detail how to optimize processes, prevent cross-infection, provide health protection, and prevent disinfection of medical staff.

The functions of miR-182-5p in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN) remain largely unclear. Here, we studied the roles and relationship between miR-182-5p and CD2AP in the development of DN. We used real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to compare miR-182-5p expression between DN and control groups, while computational analysis and luciferase assays were used to confirm CD2AP as a miR-182-5p target.

This paper proposes an event-triggered control framework, called dual-stage periodic event-triggered control (DSPETC), which unifies periodic event-triggered control (PETC) and switching event-triggered control (SETC). Specifically, two period parameters h and h are introduced to characterize the new event-triggering rule, where h denotes the sampling period, while h denotes the monitoring period. By choosing some specified values of h, the proposed control scheme can reduce to PETC or SETC scheme.

A long-term experiment, conducted at Southwest University since 1990, was used to evaluate the effect of tillage methods on the total and available contents of heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd) in the profile of purple paddy soil and the contents of those metals in root, stem leaf and brown rice. The experiment included five tillage methods: conventional tillage, paddy-upland rotation, no-tillage and fallow in winter, ridge-no-tillage and compartments-no-tillage. The results showed that the total concentrations of Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in the soil profile had no significant differences among five treatments, but it was found that total Mn has a significant decline in 0-20 cm under conventional tillage, paddy-upland rotation and no-tillage and fallow in winter compared with ridge-no-tillage and compartments-no-tillage.
