The protein encoded by the vaccinia virus gene has base excision repair uracil-DNA -glycosylase (vvUNG) activity and also acts as a processivity factor in the viral replication complex. The use of a protein unlike PolN/PCNA sliding clamps is a unique feature of orthopoxviral replication, providing an attractive target for drug design. However, the intrinsic processivity of vvUNG has never been estimated, leaving open the question whether it is sufficient to impart processivity to the viral polymerase.

The paper presents the results of calculating the absorption spectrum of a phosphorus monoxide (PO) molecule corresponding to the (=0)-(=0) transition. The efficiency of excitation of the PO molecule is estimated as a function of the spectral parameters of the laser radiation. The positions of the fluorescence bands of PO are calculated.

is a widely distributed acridid over the Eurasian semi-arid territories, from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast. In many semi-arid territories, was and is the most important pest, but in the south-eastern part of West Siberian Plain, it was not considered a pest until the 1960s. We compared two sets of data on the acridid distribution in the region: before 1960 and from 1961 until 2021.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study of the dynamic characteristics of the laser fragmentation/laser-induced fluorescence (LF/LIF) process in nitrobenzene and para-nitrotoluene vapors under synchronized two-pulse laser irradiation. It is shown that if the values of the time delay between the pulses of fragmentation (248.4 nm) and excitation (247.

The paper presents the results of an experimental study of the dynamic characteristics of the laser fragmentation/laser-induced fluorescence (LF/LIF) effects in nitrobenzene vapors under the separate initiation of processes of photofragmentation and fluorescence of fragments by nanosecond laser pulses. It is shown that, due to the inertia of the dissociation mechanism of nitrobenzene molecules, the process of the fragments' formation continues even after letup of excitation. The highest concentration of fragments is reached in a time several times greater than the standard fragmentation pulse duration of 10 ns.

Introduction: Surgery for primary non-resectable malignant tumors of the left atrium is controversial. Today heart autotransplantation as a method of surgical treatment for patients suffering primary massive malignant tumors of the left atrium is still not sufficiently studied.

Material And Methods: We provide information on our single-center 5-year experience in performing surgical interventions for massive malignant tumors of the left atrium and including cases of 5 patients (3 males - 60%, 2 females - 40%).

The paper evaluates results of randomized study of treatment of 135 patients for II-IIIB stage resectable gastric cancer (Borrmann type III and IV); of them 70 underwent intraoperative hyperthermic chemotherapy based on a technique adopted in the clinic. It has been noted the improvement of long-term results in particular the increase of dissemination-free survival (plog-rank=0,004) especially in patients with absence of metastases in regional lymph nodes (pN0) - (plog-rank=0,03). Application of an integrated technique appears to improve remote results thereby necessitating the need for further studies.

The patients (11 cases) with massive invasion in the thoracic aorta have been operated in the period from 2002 till 2010. The tumor of left lung was diagnosed in 9 cases and tumor of the mediastinum--in 2 cases. Prosthetics of the arch of aorta was performed under condition of artificial circulation in 6 cases.

The TNF region within the MHC includes a number of immunologically important genes. Microsatellites TNFa and TNFb adjacent to TNF exhibit extensive polymorphism. Employing a PCR-based technique, we identified TNFab haplotypes and defined their distribution in 97 controls and 48 diabetics of Caucasoid origin in a search for other genes within the MHC potentially associated with IDDM.

The experiment has shown that the serum of rabbits with acute pancreatitis produces proliferative effect on pancreatic islets' B-cells in rats with the acute form of experimental diabetes. The stimulation of miotic activity of B-cells, processes of acino-insular transformation, compensation of the insular function in rats with alloxan diabetes proved to be lower than in rabbits under the same experimental conditions. This testities to relative species specificity of factors in the serum of rabbits with pancreatic gland trauma.

The experiment reveals the stimulating effect of pancreatic rabbits' serum on the reparative regeneration of pancreatic islets' B-cells of rabbits with alloxan diabetes. Serum, got 12 hours after mechanical pancreatic gland trauma proves to be most effective. The maximum rise of mitotic activity is in 24 hours after 3 daily injections of serum.

In a group of 268 cases of operable peripheral lung cancer, subgroups homogeneous for major prognostic factors were formed which differed in end results of radical treatment, rate of dissemination and response to additional radiotherapy. The method allows to choose optimal diagnostic and therapeutic options for an individual patient.

The paper is concerned with the results of a randomized study of combined therapy of lung cancer patients including large field radiotherapy (total irradiation of 20 Gy, daily fractionation of 4 Gy) and induced hyperglycemia (22-23 mmol/l). The use of new variants of combined therapy was shown to increase significantly the survival of patients, however therapeutic efficacy was different depending on the time of hyperglycemia: whether it was used before radiotherapy sessions or after their discontinuation.

The paper is devoted to assessment of isometronidazole tolerance, used as a radiosensitizer for preoperative irradiation of lung cancer patients, and to characterization of morphological postradiation changes in tissues of carcinomas removed at operation. Isometronidazole was shown to cause no severe side-effects in patients, improving considerably radiation injury of the tumor parenchyma.
