Article Synopsis
  • Wuhu Oral Liquid (WHOL) is an advanced version of a traditional Chinese remedy, known for its ability to reduce inflammation and pain while speeding up recovery from soft tissue injuries.
  • A clinical trial involving 480 subjects compared WHOL to a control drug, Fufang Shang Tong Capsule (FFSTC), measuring pain relief and other symptoms over 10 days.
  • Results showed that patients using WHOL experienced significantly greater reductions in pain and improved swelling compared to those taking FFSTC, demonstrating its potential effectiveness for treating acute soft tissue injuries.

Objective: Thoracic ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (TOPLL) is a rare but intractable disease, and is the second leading cause of thoracic myelopathy. This study aimed to illustrate the overall knowledge structure and development trends of TOPLL, using a bibliometric analysis and newly developed visualization tools.

Methods: Research data sets were acquired from the Web of Science.

Background: Femoral intertrochanteric fractures (ITF) occur frequently in the elderly, accounting for 45% of all hip fractures. Postoperative anemia after fracture tends to cause ischemia, hypoxia in cells, tissues and organs, increasing the rate of blood transfusion, risk of infection, disability and mortality. Meanwhile, traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the treatment of anemia for activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

Purpose: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a multimodal approach to perioperative care that aims to reduce patient perioperative complications, accelerate patient recovery, and improve patient satisfaction by refining and optimizing all perioperative management processes. By comparing two groups of patients before and after the implementation of ERAS for intertrochanteric fracture (ITF) with a matching analysis of propensity score (PS), we aimed to demonstrate that the implementation of ERAS protocol shortens the length of hospital stay (LOS), reduces pain, decreases the incidence of postoperative complications, and promotes functional recovery of the joint.

Methods: We selected 2 periods of 1 year, before (n=98patients) and after ERAS implementation (n=92patients).

Background: To illustrate the research framework, overall knowledge structure, and development trends of Chinese medicine (CM) treatment for osteosarcoma (OS) by using a bibliometric analysis and newly developed visualization tools.

Methods: Research datasets were acquired from the Web of Science (WOS) database from January 1, 1980 to September 30, 2019. VOS viewer and Citespace software was used to analyze the data and generate visualization knowledge maps.

Background: Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) is a relatively rare benign extraperiosteal osteochondroma-like proliferative lesion that shares similarities with malignant tumours in terms of morphology. The aetiology of BPOP has yet to be determined and there are no previous reports of BPOP associated with fracture.

Case Presentation: A 57-year-old woman presented with a one-month history of pain and swelling in her right foot, which were worsened by activity and improved with rest.

Background: Intertrochanteric fracture (ITF) is increasing with the rapid increase in the aging population, often causes a high mortality rate in old patients and increases the economic burden of the family and society. ERAS (Enhanced Recovery after Surgery) is a powerful guarantee for patients to accelerate their recovery after surgery. TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) promotes repair of injured tissues and eliminates traumatic aseptic inflammation.

Aim: To compare the differential immune T cell subset composition in patients with acute T cell-mediated rejection in the kidney transplant with subset composition in the absence of rejection, and to explore the association of their respective immune profiles with kidney transplant outcomes.

Methods: A pilot cross-sectional histopathological analysis of the immune infiltrate was performed using immunohistochemistry in a cohort of 14 patients with acute T cell-mediated rejection in the kidney transplant and 7 kidney transplant patients with no rejection subjected to biopsy to investigate acute kidney transplant dysfunction. All patients were recruited consecutively from 2012 to 2014 at the Singapore General Hospital.

Objective: Apply spectral clustering to analyze the patterns of symptoms in patients with chronic gastritis (CG).

Methods: Based on 919 CG subjects, we applied mutual information feature selection to choose the positively correlated symptoms with each pattern. Then, we used the Shi and Malik spectral clustering algorithm to select the top 20 correlated symptoms.
