The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyze the clinical characteristics of treating nevus of Ota by Q-switched Nd:YAG laser in Laser Cosmetology Center of Department of Dermatology, the Second Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University. The data of 1168 patients of nevus of Ota were analyzed retrospectively, which included the correlation among lesion color, treatment sessions, sex, age, lesion types, and effect. The Q-switched (QS) Nd:YAG laser system had a higher number of treatment sessions which were positively associated with a better response to treatment.

Port wine stains (PWS) are congenital vascular malformations that progressively darken and thicken with age. To improve the effect of laser therapy in clinical practice, thermal response of blood vessel to a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser with controlled energy doses and pulse durations was evaluated using the dorsal skin chamber model. A total of 137 vessels with 30-300 μm diameters were selected from the dorsal skin of the mouse to match those capillaries in port wine stains.

The patient of the present case report was a 65-year-old man who was admitted to hospital with a six-month history of bilateral purple-red papules and nodules, which were present on the upper limbs of the patient and had spread over his whole body one month prior to admission to the hospital. Pathological examination demonstrated a diffuse infusion of primitive round cells at the papillary dermis and subcutaneous tissues.
