We report a case of neurocytoma originating from cranial nerve V. A 53-year-old female patient presented with a 20-day history of right frontotemporal facial paresthesia and pain. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a 2.

Objectives: PTEN-Long is a translational variant of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN). This study aimed to assess the effect of PTEN-Long on the biological characteristics of glioma cells and related mechanisms.

Methods: A vector stably expressing PTEN-Long was established and transfected into cells, serving as the overexpression group, while a set of empty vectors served as the negative control group.

Purpose: The pathogenesis of renal fibrosis (RF) involves intricate interactions between profibrotic processes and immune responses. This study aimed to explore the potential involvement of the pyroptosis signaling pathway in immune microenvironment regulation within the context of RF. Through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation, we investigated the influence of pyroptosis on the immune landscape in RF.

Article Synopsis
  • * A case study of a 58-year-old man showed that after treatment for variceal bleeding, he developed toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) following the use of corticosteroids and other medication.
  • * The report highlights the rarity of TEN post-endoscopic surgery and emphasizes the need for vigilance in patients with skin reactions when multiple medications are administered, aiming to guide future diagnosis and treatment.

Since the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its resultant pneumonia in December 2019, the cumulative number of infected people worldwide has exceeded 670 million, with over 6.8 million deaths. Despite the marketing of multiple series of vaccines and the implementation of strict prevention and control measures in many countries, the spread and prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 have not been completely and effectively controlled.

Objectives: To explore the key genes involved in the occurrence and development of glioblastoma (GBM) by analyzing whole-transcriptome sequencing and biologic data from GBM and normal cerebral cortex tissues and to search for important noncoding RNA (ncRNA) molecular markers based on the competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network.

Methods: Ten GBM and normal cerebral cortex tissues were collected for full transcriptome sequencing, screened for differentially expressed (DE) mRNAs, miRNAs, lncRNAs, and circRNAs, and subjected to bioinformatic analysis. We constructed a Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) network and a circRNA/lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network and identified them using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

Exosome-mediated delivery of circular RNAs (circRNAs) is implicated in cancer progression. However, the role of exosomal circRNAs in the chemotherapy resistance of tumours remains poorly understood. Here we identified a novel circRNA, circWDR62.

As the most common primary tumour of the central nervous system, gliomas have a high recurrence rate after surgical resection and are resistant to chemotherapy, particularly high‑grade gliomas dominated by glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The prognosis of GBM remains poor despite improvements in treatment modalities, posing a serious threat to human health. At present, although drugs such as temozolomide, cisplatin and bevacizumab, are effective in improving the overall survival of patients with GBM, most patients eventually develop drug resistance, leading to poor clinical prognosis.

This research systematically profiled the global N6-methyladenosine modification pattern of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in glioblastoma (GBM). Based on RNA methylation sequencing (MeRIP sequencing or N6-methyladenosine sequencing) and RNA sequencing, we described the N6-methyladenosine modification status and gene expression of circRNAs in GBM and normal brain tissues. N6-methyladenosine-related circRNAs were immunoprecipitated and validated by real-time quantitative PCR.

N6-methyladenosine (mA) plays crucial roles in a diverse range of physiological and pathological processes, and it is believed that it tremendously promotes neoplasia and progression. However, knowledge of the molecular characteristics of mA modification, its prognostic value, and the infiltration of immune cell populations in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is still insufficient. Therefore, a pan-cancer genomic analysis was systematically performed here by examining mA regulators at the molecular level within 33 multiple cancer types, and the correlations between the expression of mA molecules were researched using datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Background: Increasing studies have revealed that circular RNAs (CircRNAs) make great contributions to regulating tumor progression. Therefore, we intended to explore the expression characteristics, function, and related mechanisms of a novel type of circRNA, PIP5K1A, in glioma.

Methods: Firstly, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was carried out to examine CircPIP5K1A expression in glioma tissues and adjacent normal tissues, and the correlation between CircPIP5K1A level and the clinical-pathological indicators of glioma was analyzed.

Since early December 2019, a number of pneumonia cases associated with unknown coronavirus infection were identified in Wuhan, China, and many additional cases were identified in other regions of China and in other countries within 3 months. Currently, more than 80,000 cases have been diagnosed in China, including more than 3000 deaths. The epidemic is spreading to the rest of the world, posing a grave challenge to prevention and control.
