Immunogenicity and safety of two-dose or three-dose regimens of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis: a randomised clinical trial.

Background: To assess the immunogenicity and safety of two-dose regimen of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and explored the potential benefits of additional dose.

Research Design And Methods: In total, 182 PTB patients were randomly (1:1) assigned to the standard-dose group to receive three standard doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines, or the double-dose boosting group to receive two standard doses plus a double dose, with a 28-day interval. Forty healthy controls were assigned to receive two doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines 28 days apart.

The application value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing technology in the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal infectious meningitis - a single center retrospective case-control study.

Objective: This retrospective study was conducted to investigate the application value of metagenomics next generation sequencing (mNGS) technology in the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal infectious meningitis.

Methods: From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022, 73 newborns suspected of infectious meningitis were hospitalized. After screening by inclusion and exclusion criteria, 69 newborns were subsequently included in the study, containing 27 cases with positive mNGS result and 42 cases with negative mNGS result.

[Pulmonary hemorrhage in very low birth weight infants: risk factors and clinical outcome].

Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for pulmonary hemorrhage and its clinical outcome in very low birth weight infants (VLBWIs).

Methods: The medical data were collected from all live VLBWIs (gestational age <35 weeks) who were admitted to Jiangsu Women and Children Health Hospital and Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 574 VLBWIs were included in the study, with 44 VLBWIs in the pulmonary hemorrhage group and 530 VLBWIs in the non-pulmonary hemorrhage group.

Less invasive surfactant administration in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome-an updated meta-analysis.

Background: Less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) seems to have a good application prospect both in experimental models and patients with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Data regarding the effect of LISA procedure on RDS are conflicting.

Methods: A search was conducted by two investigators involved in this research in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases for studies in English and in Wanfang, VIP, and Cnki databases for Chinese studies (all last launched on December 18, 2018).

Does neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio have good diagnostic value in neonatal necrotizing colitis?

The diagnostic value of neutrophil/lymphocyte (N/L) ratio in the early diagnosis of neonatal necrotizing colitis (NEC) was evaluated. This is a cross-sectional study. From the 103 NEC cases, the preterm infants were randomly recruited into this study, including NEC I 41 cases, NEC II 34 cases, and NEC III 28 cases.

[Diagnostic values of prealbumin and retinol-binding protein for liver damage caused by different degrees of neonatal asphyxia].

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic values of prealbumin (PAB) and retinol-binding protein (RBP) for liver damage caused by mild or severe asphyxia.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 185 neonates (including 84 premature infants and 101 full-term infants) with asphyxia. Based on the Apgar score, they were divided into two groups: mild asphyxia group (n=150) and severe asphyxia group (n=35).

Infantile Pompe disease: A case report and review of the Chinese literature.

Pompe disease, also known as glycogen storage disease type II, is caused by acid maltase deficiency, and can lead to lysosomal glycogen storage. The primal manifestations may be observed in children and adults, and also in infants. In general, the clinical spectrum in infants is more progressive and lethal than that in older patients.

A prospective study of pain experience in a neonatal intensive care unit of China.

Objectives: To assess pain burden in neonates during their hospitalization in China and thus provide evidence for the necessity of neonatal pain management.

Patients And Methods: The Neonatal Facial Coding System was used to evaluate pain in neonates. We prospectively collected data of all painful procedures performed on 108 neonates (term, 62; preterm, 46) recruited from admission to discharge in a neonatal intensive care unit of a university-affiliated hospital in China.
