For advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with common epidermal growth factor receptor () mutations (exon 19 deletions or the exon 21 L858R mutation), tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are the standard therapies. However, germline mutations are extremely rare in lung cancer, and the effective therapy is unclear. This study reports a patient with primary breast and lung cancer carried rare germline R776H and somatic L861Q mutation, who benefit from EGFR TKIs.

Osimertinib, a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), is effective in T790M positive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Despite the efficacy of osimertinib, patients inevitably develop resistance and the mechanisms of osimertinib resistance are heterogeneous. Here, we report that a lung adenocarcinoma patient with L858R mutation who was treated with second-line osimertinib therapy acquired multiple resistance to osimertinib by the non-invasive circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) genotyping.

Screening and detection of early lung cancer is important for diagnosis and prognosis. Intervention in early stage of lung cancer can significantly improve the cure and survival of patients. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an increasingly popular method of diagnosing cancer.

Background: For patients with a brain metastasis (BM), systemic therapy is usually administered after the completion of radiotherapy, especially in cases of multiple BMs. However, the role of systemic therapy in patients with a limited number of BMs is not clear. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to explore this question.

Water flea (Daphnia magna) and fish (Carassius auratus) at trophic level were used for comprehensive evaluation of environmental risks incurred by manufactured nanomaterial (nNi(OH)2) as leaked from lithium cells to the food chain in freshwater ecosystem. The 48, 72 and 96 h acute toxicities of water suspensions of nNi(OH)2 to the flea and the fish were tested, using the immobilization and the mortality as toxicological endpoints. The results showed that the water flea was more highly sensitive to nNi(OH)2 than the fish.

Objective: To perform phenotypic identification and characteristic analysis of a new zebrafish mutant 1276 defective in primitive myelopoiesis.

Methods: The AB strain male zebrafish were mutagenized with N-ethyl N-nitrosourea (ENU) to induce mutations in the spermatogonial cells, and the mutations were transmitted to the offsprings. The F3 embryos were screened by neutral red staining for identifying the mutants defective in primitive myelopoiesis.

Objective: To identify zebrafish mutants with myelopoiesis defects by ENU mutagenesis and large-scale forward genetic screening.

Methods: Male zebrafish were mutagenized with N-ethyl N-nitrosourea to induce mutations in the spermatogonial cells to generate the founders, which were outcrossed with AB to raise F1 fish. The F1 fish from different founders were mated to generate the F2 families.

Objective: To screen and identify zebrafish mutants with erythropoiesis defects by N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU) mutagenesis and large-scale forward genetic screening using beta e 1 as the marker.

Methods: The chemical mutagen ENU was used to treat healthy wild-type male fish (AB strain, F0). The surviving ENU-treated fish were mated with wild-type female fish to generate F1, and further F2 family was generated by F1 family intercross.
