Due to remarkable fluorescence characteristics, lanthanide coordination polymers (CP) have been widely employed in fluorescence detection, but it is rarely reported that they act as multifunctional luminescent probes dedicated to detecting malachite green (MG) and various metal ions. A europium-based CP fluorescent probe, Eu(PDCA)(HO) (PDCA = 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid), has been synthesized and exhibited excellent recognition ability for malachite green and metal cations (Cr, Fe and Cu) among 11 metal cations, 13 anions and six other compounds. The recognition was achieved by fluorescence quenching when MG, Cr, Fe and Cu were added to a suspension of Eu(PDCA)(HO) respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study explored the potential of soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) in serum as a prognostic biomarker for patients with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) undergoing chemotherapy, as there are currently no effective biomarkers for clinical outcomes in this condition.
  • - Researchers analyzed sPD-L1 levels and found that higher concentrations (≥0.63 ng/mL) were linked to shorter overall survival (OS), particularly in female patients, while tissue PD-L1 levels did not predict prognosis.
  • - The results suggest that measuring serum sPD-L1 before treatment could serve as a meaningful and accessible marker for estimating prognosis in patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy for advanced ESCC.

Background: The prognosis of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been significantly improved. In the past several years, research on epigenetics is in full swing. There is a focus on the gene EZH2; however, its role as a predictor of the prognosis of NSCLC is in the debate.
