The phosphorus (P) availability in soils is influenced by microbes, particularly those containing the gene responsible for phosphate solubilization. The present study investigated the community structure, diversity, and co-occurrence networks of -harboring bacteria in karst and non-karst citrus orchard soils across a planting duration gradient, natural forests, and abandoned land, as well as the soil total P (TP) and available P (AP) contents and enzyme activities. The soil AP contents were lower in the karst regions than in the non-karst regions, while the soil organic carbon (C; SOC), exchangeable calcium, and microbial biomass nitrogen (N) contents; alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and β-Glucuronidase activities; and pH had the opposite trends.

Gut microbiota plays a crucial role in the health and productivity of pigs. However, the spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and viruses within the pig intestinal microbiota poses significant threats to animal and public health. This study utilized 181 pig samples from nine European countries and employed metagenomic assembly methods to investigate the dynamics and distribution of ARGs and viruses within the pig intestinal microbiota, aiming to observing their associations with potential bacterial hosts.

We propose two types of structures to achieve the control of Fano and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) line shapes, in which dual one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystal nanobeam cavities (PCNCs) are side-coupled to a bus waveguide with different gaps. For the proposed type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ systems, the phase differences between the nanobeam periodic structures of the two cavities are and 0, respectively. The whole structures are theoretically analyzed via the coupled mode theory and numerically demonstrated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D FDTD) method.

The shear failure of rock masses is one of the primary causes of underground engineering instability. The shear mechanical behavior of rocks at different sizes is of great significance for studying the shear failure pattern of engineering rock masses. However, due to the presence of various joints and defects in natural rocks, the obtained rock specimens exhibit significant discreteness, making it difficult to customize specimen sizes for size effect studies.

(1) Background: Impeded resolution of inflammation contributes substantially to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD); consequently, resolving inflammation is pivotal to the amelioration of AD pathology. This can potentially be achieved by the treatment with specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs), which should resolve neuroinflammation in brains. (2) Methods: Here, we report the histological effects of long-term treatment with an SPM, maresin-like 1 (MarL1), on AD pathogenesis in a transgenic 5xFAD mouse model.

IL-6R inhibitors are widely used in many inflammation-related diseases, especially so during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their relationship with gastrointestinal perforations (GIPs) has been reported more and more. We comprehensively analyzed IL-6R inhibitors in association with GIPs from the United States FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).

We examined the impact of ethnic essentialism on psychological compatibility among minority and Han Chinese college students and investigated the roles of ethnic identity and self-construal. A moderated mediator analysis was used and a multigroup comparison of the moderated mediator model across ethnic groups was conducted. The results indicate that ethnic essentialism significantly and negatively predicts psychological compatibility.

Mental fatigue is an important factor affecting athletes' performance. Explaining the effects of mental fatigue on sports performance from a theoretical point of view can help us deeply understand the interconnection between mental fatigue and sports performance and conduct effective interventions based on this. Combining the relevant literature in China and abroad reveals that the current academic theories on the mechanism of sports fatigue include motivational control theory, underload theory, neural waste disposal hypothesis, and resource depletion theory.

Background/objectives: We assessed the influence of local patients and clinical characteristics on the performance of commercial deep learning (DL) segmentation models for head-and-neck (HN), breast, and prostate cancers.

Methods: Clinical computed tomography (CT) scans and clinically approved contours of 210 patients (53 HN, 49 left breast, 55 right breast, and 53 prostate cancer) were used to train and validate segmentation models integrated within a vendor-supplied DL training toolkit and to assess the performance of both vendor-pretrained and custom-trained models. Four custom models (HN, left breast, right breast, and prostate) were trained and validated with 30 (training)/5 (validation) HN, 34/5 left breast, 39/5 right breast, and 30/5 prostate patients to auto-segment a total of 24 organs at risk (OARs).

As consumer demand for low-salt diets increases, the development of low-salt cheese has emerged as a prevailing trend. To gain a deeper insight into the effects of salt reduction on cheddar cheese, this study used cheddar cheese with a 2.0% salt concentration (full salt, FS) as the standard control, exploring the differences in quality and composition between cheddar cheese with a 1.

The bioactive components of chrysanthemum tea are an essential indicator in evaluating its nutritive and commercial values. Combining hyperspectral imaging (HSI) with key wavelength selection and pattern recognition methods, this study developed a novel approach to estimating the content of bioactive components in chrysanthemums, including the total flavonoids (TFs) and chlorogenic acids (TCAs). To determine the informative wavelengths of hyperspectral images, we introduced a variable similarity regularization term into particle swarm optimization (denoted as VSPSO), which can focus on improving the combinatorial performance of key wavelengths and filtering out the features with higher collinearity simultaneously.

This study selected three approved folate sources-folic acid (FA), L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (MTFA), and calcium 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (CMTFA)-to explore their interaction mechanisms with soy protein isolate (SPI) through spectrofluorometric analysis and molecular docking simulations. We investigated how these interactions influence the structural and physicochemical stability of folates and SPI. Three folates spontaneously bound to SPI, forming complexes, resulting in a decrease of approximately 30 kJ·mol in Gibbs free energy and an association constant (K) of 10 L·mol.

: Cultivated meat, an alternative to conventional meat, has substantial potential for alleviating environmental and ethical concerns. This method of manufacturing meat involves the isolation of skeletal muscle satellite cells (SMSCs) from donor animals, after which they proliferate in vitro and differentiate into primitive muscle fibers. The aim of this research was to evaluate how the insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) gene regulates the myogenic differentiation of bovine skeletal muscle satellite cells (bSMSCs).

Yeast fermentation products (YFPs) are known to contain bioactive compounds, such as nutritional metabolites and cell wall polysaccharides (specifically glucan and mannan), which have been demonstrated to exert positive effects on the growth performance and immunity of livestock and poultry. However, the impact of YFPs on intestinal inflammation and microflora composition in pigs infected with typhimurium remains unclear. To investigate this, a total of 18 weaned pigs were divided into three treatment groups: a non-challenged control group (Con), a group challenged with typhimurium (ST), and a group challenged with typhimurium and supplemented with 0.
