Single-tube Multiplex Nested PCR System for Efficient Detection of Pathogenic Microorganisms in SPF Rodents.

PCR testing is increasingly important for microbial control in SPF facilities. However, most current PCR methods are timeconsuming and require compromise between high sensitivity and high multiplexing. We developed a one-tube multiplex nested PCR strategy (MN-PCR) for simultaneous direct (that is, without culturing) detection of multiple pathogens.

Background And Aims: The early growth response 2 gene mutations are associated with a group of hereditary neuropathy, including axonal neuropathy and hypomyelinating neuropathy or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) type 1D. We aim to perform an electrodiagnostic, nerve imaging, and histological study of EGR2-associated neuropathy.

After their first encounter with a foreign antigen, naïve B cells that have immunoglobulin M (IgM) B cell receptors (BCRs) trigger the primary antibody response and the generation of memory B cells with IgG BCRs. When these memory B cells reencounter the same antigen, the cell surface IgG BCRs stimulate their rapid differentiation into plasma cells that release large amounts of IgG antibodies. We showed that the conserved cytoplasmic tail of the IgG BCR, which contains a putative PDZ (postsynaptic density 95/disc large/zona occludens 1)-binding motif, associated with synapse-associated protein 97 (SAP97), a PDZ domain-containing scaffolding molecule that is involved in controlling receptor density and signal strength at neuronal synapses.

Methods And Results: The 310 MI patients and 254 controls were genotyped for 5 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the human P2RY2 gene (rs4944831, rs1783596, rs4944832, rs4382936, rs10898909).

Molecular epidemiological analysis of Japanese encephalitis virus in China.

Sixty-two new Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) isolates were obtained from mosquitoes, biting midges, human cerebrospinal fluid and human blood samples in China during 2002-2005. The E and prM genes were sequenced and phylogenetic analyses were performed with 38 JEV other isolates from China and 36 JEV strains from other countries. Phylogenetic trees based on the E and prM gene sequences were similar.

Primacy and recency effects refer to the better performance or shorter response time on the first and last items than the middle ones of a memory list. In order to investigate its neural basis in auditory short-term memory, event-related fMRI was used to measure brain activities when subject was recalling the first, the last, or the middle items. Recalling the middle item was associated with more extensive activation in the left parietal and visual cortex, basal ganglia, and dorsal cerebellum.
