The ability to recognize the body sizes of sheep is significantly influenced by posture, especially without artificial fixation, leading to more noticeable changes. This study presents a recognition model using the Mask R-CNN convolutional neural network to identify the sides and backs of sheep. The proposed approach includes an algorithm for extracting key frames through mask calculation and specific algorithms for head-down, head-up, and jumping postures of Ujumqin sheep.

A fair amount of theoretical work has shown that Huygens' metasurfaces well modulate electromagnetic waves by properly designing electrical impedance Z and magnetic admittance Y; however, the transmissive Huygens' metasurface is still challenging in the terahertz band. In this work, a transmission-type Huygens' metasurface with bilayer metallic patches has been proposed and theoretically demonstrated to show a reflectionless phase modulation for a linearly polarized terahertz wave. The simulation results show that the metasurface can achieve 2π phase coverage, and importantly the phase change can be simply achieved by changing a single geometric parameter of the metamolecule, along with a similar transmission effect.

The detection of cable corrosion is of great significance to the evaluation of cable safety performance. Based on the principle of spontaneous magnetic flux leakage (SMFL), a new method for predicting the corrosion width of cables is proposed. In this paper, in order to quantify the width of corrosion, the parameter about intersecting point distance between curves of magnetic flux component of direction at different lift off heights () is proposed by establishing the theoretical model of the magnetic dipole of the rectangular corrosion defect.

Based on the metal magnetic memory effect, this paper proposed a new non-destructive testing method for the internal tensile force detection of steel bars by analyzing the self-magnetic flux leakage (SMFL) signals. The variation of the SMFL signal of the steel bar with the tensile force indicates that the curve of the SMFL signal has a significant extreme point when the tensile force reaches about 65% of the yield tension, of which the first derivative curve has extreme points in the elastic and yielding stages, respectively. To study the variation of SMFL signal with the axial position of the steel bar under different tensile forces, a parameter reflecting the fluctuation of the SMFL signal along the steel bar is proposed.

Previously, we reported that Y, a new epigallocatechin gallate derivative, is efficacious in reversing doxorubicin (DOX)--mediated resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma BEL-7404/DOX cells. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of Y in reversing drug resistance both and by determining its effect on the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette protein B1 transporter (ABCB1 or P-glycoprotein, P-gp). Our results showed that Y significantly sensitized cells overexpressing the ABCB1 transporter to anticancer drugs that are ABCB1 substrates.

Artificial superlattices constructed with ferromagnetic LaSrMnO layer and ferroelectric BaSrTiO layer were designed and fabricated on SrTiO substrates. An epitaxial growth with sharp interfaces between LaSrMnO and BaSrTiO layers was confirmed by scanning transmission electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction. An unambiguous charge transfer involving an electron transferring from the LaSrMnO layers to BaSrTiO layers (Mn→Mn; Ti→Ti) across the interface were resolved by electron energy loss spectra analysis.

This paper presents a non-destructive test method for steel corrosion in reinforced concrete bridges by using a 3-dimensional digital micro-magnetic sensor to detect and analyze the self-magnetic field leakage from corroded reinforced concrete. The setup of the magnetic scanning device and the measurement mode of the micro-magnetic sensor are introduced. The numerical analysis model is also built based on the linear magnetic charge theory.

Varying the film thickness is a precise route to tune the interfacial strain to manipulate the properties of the multiferroic materials. Here, to explore the effects of the interfacial strain on the properties of the multiferroic BiFeO3 films, we investigated thickness-dependent structural and polarization evolutions of the BiFeO3 films. RT-qPCR is a commonly used method for evaluating gene expression; however, its accuracy and reliability are dependent upon the choice of appropriate reference gene(s), and there is limited information available on suitable reference gene(s) that can be used in mouse testis at different stages. In this study, using the RT-qPCR method, we investigated the expression variations of six reference genes representing different functional classes (Actb, Gapdh, Ppia, Tbp, Rps29, Hprt1) in mice testis during embryonic and postnatal development. The expression stabilities of putative reference genes were evaluated using five algorithms: geNorm, NormFinder, Bestkeeper, the comparative delta C(t) method and integrated tool RefFinder.

LaMnO(3) (LMO) films are deposited on SrTiO(3):Nb (0.8 wt%) substrates under various oxygen pressures to obtain different concentrations of oxygen vacancies in the films. The results of X-ray diffraction verify that with a decrease of the oxygen pressure, the c-axis lattice constant of the LMO films becomes larger, owing to an increase of the oxygen vacancies.

Objective: To identify the resources of Gynostemma pentaphyllum and its spurious breed plant Cayratia japonica at level of DNA.

Methods: Two random primers ( WGS001, WGS004) screened were applied to do random amplification with genomic DNA extracted from Gynostemma pentaphyllum and Cayratia japonica which were collected from different habitats. After amplificated with WGS004, one characteristic fragment about 500 bp which was common to all Gynostemma pentaphyllum samples studied but not to Cayratia japonica was cloned and sequenced.
