The selective breeding of beef cattle plays an important role in meeting the growing demand for beef and improving production performance. This study used fattened cattle of the Simmental (S) breed, and two crossbreeds: Simmental × Mongolian (SM) and Simmental × Holstein (SH), which were healthy, of similar age and weight. The results showed that the blood glucose (GLU) levels of the crossbred, genetically improved SM and SH groups were higher than that of the S group.

Background: Emerging evidence has revealed that PKM2 has oncogenic functions independent of its canonical pyruvate kinase activity, serving as a protein kinase that regulates gene expression. However, the mechanism by which PKM2, as a histone kinase, regulates the transcription of genes involved in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) metastasis remains poorly understood.

Methods: We integrated cellular analysis, including cell viability, proliferation, colony formation, and migration assays; biochemical assays, including protein interaction studies and ChIP; clinical sample analysis; RNA-Seq and CUT&Tag data; and xenograft or mammary-specific gene knockout mouse models, to investigate the epigenetic modulation of TNBC metastasis via NONO-dependent interactions with nuclear PKM2.

Improving yield traits is the primary goal for wheat breeding, while much less attention has been paid to flavor and odor quality of wheat grain. In this study, a high-throughput protocol was developed for the identification and quantification of volatile compounds (VOCs) in wheat grains via a static head-space coupled with GC-MS. A novel oxyphenisatin analogue was identified in a type of jelly candy during routine inspections of food products marketed for weight-loss purposes. Through analysis utilizing ultra-high-performance quadrupole-Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-HRMS), the fragment ions at m/z 258 and 195 observed in the MS/MS experiments were found to be consistent with those of 4-Chloro-oxyphenisatin diacetate. It was inferred that the unknown compound is likely a derivative of 4-Chloro-oxyphenisatin diacetate.

The novel advanced oxidation process was constructed to remove pollutants by activating in-situ generated peroxymonocarbonate (HCO) through photocatalysis, using commercially available rutile TiO as the photocatalyst. It demonstrated exceptional oxidative capacity, achieving complete degradation of acid red (AR73) within 30 min, and efficiently oxidizing various recalcitrant organic pollutants. Further, the photocatalytic system had a good resistance to interference and was smoothly conducted in a variety of water matrix with a wide range of pH (3-9).

Surface solar radiation, both its components and intensity, is pivotal in determining vegetation light use efficiency (LUE) and is essential for accurately estimating gross primary production (GPP) in ecosystems. This study introduces two key parameters: the diffuse photosynthetic photon flux density fraction (f) to account for the diffuse fertilization effect (DFE) and the radiation scalar to reflect the impact of radiation intensity on leaf-level LUE. Leveraging these parameters, we developed two novel LUE models: the Big-leaf Diffuse-fraction Radiation-scalar LUE (BDR-LUE) model, adapted from traditional big-leaf LUE models, and the Two-leaf Diffuse-fraction Radiation-scalar LUE (TDR-LUE) model, based on conventional two-leaf LUE frameworks.

This study was to determine the synergistic effect of corn straw and mulberry leaves in sheep diet. Corn straw and mulberry leaves were mixed as culture substrate for six groups: 100:0 (T0), 80:20 (T20), 60:40 (T40), 40: 60 (T60), 20:80 (T80) and 0:100 (T100). Calsyntenin-1 (Clst1) is a sensitive indicator of lead (Pb) toxicity in neural tissue.
