Methods: The ACSS2 expression was detected in melanoma cells and melanocytes at both protein and mRNA levels.
Enterotoxigenic (ETEC) cause severe diarrhea in humans and animals, leading to death and huge economic loss worldwide. Thus, elucidation of ETEC's pathogenic mechanisms will provide powerful data for the discovery of drugs serving as prevention or therapeutics against ETEC-caused diarrheal diseases. Here, we report that ArcA plays an essential role in the pathogenicity and virulence regulation in ETEC by positively regulating the expression of several key virulence factors including F18 fimbriae, heat-labile and heat-stable toxins, Shiga toxin 2e, and hemolysin, under microaerobic conditions and .

However, the mechanisms underlying ExPEC's serum resistance remain incompletely understood. Through the transposon-directed insertion-site sequencing approach, our previous study identified , the gene encoding a Na/H antiporter, as a crucial factor for infection .

While regular exercise exposure is considered the most effective therapy to reduce arterial stiffness, the effect of acute exercise training on arterial stiffness in adults with different blood pressure (BP) levels remains unclear. The authors aimed to investigate the effects of acute aerobic exercise on arterial stiffness in male with different BP levels. This cross-sectional study utilized data for 1200 males aged 20-49 years from the Kailuan study cohort who participated in the fifth National Fitness Monitoring project.

It is characterized by its ability to adhere to gastric mucosa and cause a series of pathological changes in the gastric mucosa. Modern research shows that Hp is an important pathogenic factor for chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, and gastric cancer.

However, due to the lack of evidence-based medical evidence, the author designed the program to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture.
Methods: From the beginning to August 2020, 7 electronic databases will be searched.

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease accompanied by alveolar bone loss. Moreover, M1 macrophages play a critical role in the development of periodontal disease. Uncoupling protein-2 (UCP2) is a mitochondrial transporter protein that controls M1 macrophage activation by modulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

This study aimed to prospectively examine the relationship between resting heart rate (RHR) and all-cause mortality in Chinese patients with hypertension.
Design: An observational, prospective and population-based cohort study.
Osteoporosis is a serious public health concern worldwide. Herba epimedii has been used for centuries and even thousands of years to treat osteoporotic conditions. Icariin, a flavonol glycoside, is one of the major active ingredients.

This study investigated the mechanisms of the decreases of carboxylesterases (CES) and cytochrome P4503A4 (CYP3A4) and the enzymatic activities induced by fluoxetine (FLX) in HepG2 cells. We found that FLX decreased the carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) and carboxylesterase 2 (CES2) expression and the hydrolytic activity.

Methods: 20 non-smoking patients with chronic periodontitis and 20 healthy individuals were enrolled. Periodontal ligament tissue and gingival tissue samples from healthy subjects were collected during teeth extraction for orthodontic reason or the third molar extraction.
Differentiated embryo-chondrocyte expressed gene 1 (DEC1) is associated with chondrogenesis, neurogenesis, immune response, biological rhythm, lipogenesis, cell differentiation and carcinogenesis. However, there is little information about its contribution to osteoblast osteogenesis. In the present study, we report that DEC1 expression increases along with the degree of mineralization, which parallells with the increase of osteogenesis induction time in SaoS-2 cells.

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of smoking on survival rate of endosseous implant.
Methods: The literatures published before the year 2012 involving influence of smoking on survival rate of endosseous implant were searched in PubMed,Embase and Cochrane databases. Data from the literatures conforming to the inclusion criteria and exclusive criteria were selected and a meta-analysis was carried out.
In this study, we provided molecular evidences that interleukin-6 (IL-6) contributed to the decreased capacity of oxidative biotransformation in human liver by suppressing the expression of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). After human hepatocytes were treated with IL-6, differentially expressed in chondrocytes 1 (DEC1) expression rapidly increased, and subsequently, the CYP3A4 expression decreased continuously. Furthermore, the repression of CYP3A4 by IL-6 occurred after the increase of DEC1 in primary human hepatocytes.

Hydrolysis of many drugs is reduced in liver diseases such as hepatitis and cirrhosis. In this study, we have demonstrated, in vitro and in vivo, treatment with LPS decreased the expression of HCE1 and HCE2 and the capacity of hydrolytic activity.
