The relative contributions of mutation rate variation, selection, and recombination in shaping genomic variation in bacterial populations remain poorly understood. Here we analyze 3318 Yersinia pestis genomes, spanning nearly a century and including 2336 newly sequenced strains, to shed light on the patterns of genetic diversity and variation distribution at the population level. We identify 45 genomic regions ("hot regions", HRs) that, although comprising a minor fraction of the genome, are hotbeds of genetic variation.

The key enzymes involved in nitrogen and carbon metabolism significantly affect the synthesis of proteins and starch, thereby influencing the nutritional and taste quality of rice. However, to date, no studies have focused on the after-effects of low-temperature at booting on the quality formation of HAR.

HK-2 cells were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to establish an in vitro model of SA-AKI. ALKBH5 expression was reduced through the transfection of si-ALKBH5.

In April 2022, a root rot disease with a 10% incidence rate was observed on the strawberry cultivars 'Ningyu' and 'Sweet Charlie' grown in plastic greenhouses (0.7 ha) located in Xingyang (113.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes of the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with a novel zero-profile variable-angle (Zero-P VA) spacer and a traditional poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) cage and plate system in cases pertaining to cervical radiculopathy/myelopathy. There are two conventional types of ACDF procedures aimed at treating symptomatic cervical spondylosis.
This paper reports a method for calculating the electromagnetic force acting on an aluminum honeycomb sandwich panel moving in a magnetic field. This research is motivated by the non-contact electromagnetic detumbling technology for space non-cooperative targets. Past modeling of the electromagnetic forces and torques generally assumes that the target is homogeneous.

Methods: This retrospective study investigated 310 cases of posterior lumbar decompression and fusion. The cumulative grade was calculated by adding the pfirrmann grades of all the lumbar discs.
Purpose: There has been an association between changes in body composition, fracture incidence, and age in previous studies. Telomere length (TL) has been proposed as a biomarker of aging. However, the relationship between body composition, fractures, and TL has rarely been studied.

Most OC cases are typically diagnosed at advanced stages, which has led to a 5-year overall survival rate of less than 35% following conventional treatment. Furthermore, immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy has shown limited efficacy in the treatment of patients with OC, and CAR-T therapy has also demonstrated modest results owing to inadequate T cell infiltration.

Plague caused by remains a public health threat worldwide. Because multidrug-resistant strains have been found in both humans and animals, phage therapy has attracted increasing attention as an alternative strategy against plague. However, phage resistance is a potential drawback of phage therapies, and the mechanism of phage resistance in is yet to be investigated.

Yin-deficiency constitution (YINDC) is a common type of unbalanced constitutions in Chinese infants. An infant's gut microbiota directly affects the child's health and has long-term effects on the maturation of the immune and endocrine systems throughout life.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of rTMS combined with bilateral arm training (BAT) on the brain functional reorganization in patients with chronic stroke via functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).
Methods: Fifteen stroke patients and fifteen age-matched healthy participants were enrolled and underwent single BAT session (s-BAT) and BAT immediately after 5-Hz rTMS over the ipsilesional M1 (rTMS-BAT), measured cerebral haemodynamics by fNIRS.
Background: As an increasingly popular complementary and alternative approach for early detection and treatment of disease, traditional Chinese medicine constitution (TCMC) divides human beings into those with balanced constitution (BC) and unbalanced constitution, where damp-heat constitution (DHC) is one of the most unbalanced constitutions. Many studies have been carried out on the microscopic mechanism of constitution classification; however, most of these studies were conducted in adults and rarely in infants. Many diseases are closely related to intestinal microbiota, and metabolites produced by the interaction between microbiota and the body may impact constitution classification.

Methods: 303 patients undergoing posterior lumbar decompression and fusion were retrospectively analyzed. An examination of the blood count was performed before surgery.
Objective: To determine if preoperative albumin-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR) is predictive of clinical outcomes in patients with degenerative lumbar diseases undergoing lumbar fusion. Method: 326 patients undergoing posterior lumbar decompression and fusion were retrospectively analyzed. The cumulative grade was calculated by summing the Pfirrmann grades of all lumbar discs.

Introduction: This study was aimed at exploring whether the Golgi membrane protein 1 (GOLM1) enhanced ovarian cancer metastasis through B7-H3-dependent way.
Methods: We collected the ovarian cancer patient samples from available databases including GEPIA, starBase, and Protein Altas that have GOLM1 and B7-H3 mRNA and protein expression. Ovarian cancer cell line SKOV3 was purchased.

However, studies on the impact of exosomes from cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) on tumor-cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cycle regulation in clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma (ccRCC) are still lacking.
Methods: A Western blot assay was performed to test the exosome-related marker protein level in exosomes derived from CAFs and normal fibroblasts (NFs).
