Transcriptional dysregulation of genes is a hallmark of tumors and can serve as targets for cancer drug development. However, it is extremely challenging to develop small-molecule inhibitors to target abnormally expressed transcription factors (TFs) except for the nuclear receptor family of TFs. Little is known about the interaction between TFs and transcription cofactors in gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA) or the therapeutic effects of targeting TF and transcription cofactor complexes.

In the present study, polysaccharides (AAP) and proteins (AAPR) obtained from the waste products of were incorporated into pullulan (PUL) to obtain active packaging films/coatings. Results showed that incorporating AAP/AAPR into PUL-based films decreased their transparency, but increased the compactness, thermal stability, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. Adding 2% PUL films with 10%:10% of AAP/AAPR exhibiting good mechanical properties were applied to fresh-cut potatoes to avoid spoilage during eight days of storage, with significantly decreased in browning index, weight loss, microbial growth prevention and the total soluble solids was maintained.

Background: Major psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia (SCZ) and bipolar disorder (BPD) are complex genetic mental illnesses. Their non-Mendelian features, such as those observed in monozygotic twins discordant for SCZ or BPD, are likely complicated by environmental modifiers of genetic effects. 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) is an important epigenetic mark in gene regulation, and whether it is linked to genetic variants that contribute to non-Mendelian features remains largely unexplored.

Purpose: To investigate the mechanistic effects of combined exposure to caffeine and catechins on lipid metabolism in mice.

Methods: Seventy mice were randomly assigned to seven groups and fed diets containing varying doses of caffeine and catechins for 24 weeks. Body weight gain, intraperitoneal adipose tissue (IPAT) weight, serum biochemical parameters, and enzymatic activities, mRNA and protein expression levels of lipid metabolism-related enzymes in the liver and IPAT were analyzed.

The influence of temperature, pH value, and solvent on the degradation behavior of astilbin was studied by HPLC. Results showed that the degradation of astilbin was pH and temperature dependent, and the isomerization of astilbin to its three stereoisomers was found. The degradation process followed the first-order kinetics model, and the degradation rate k values increased, whereas half-life (t1/2) values declined with the rise of pH and temperature.
