Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of autofluorescence laryngoscope (AFL) in diagnosing early laryngeal carcinoma and precancerous lesions compared to the traditional white light laryngoscope (WL).
  • A comprehensive search through various databases led to the inclusion of 23 studies, which showed that AFL had higher sensitivity (0.91) and specificity (0.80) than WL (sensitivity of 0.74 and specificity of 0.89).
  • The findings suggest that AFL has better diagnostic accuracy and should be considered for early detection of laryngeal conditions, outperforming WL in diagnostic value.
