Article Synopsis
  • - Bolted joints are vital for assembling carbon fiber/resin composites, but drilling can create defects at hole edges that weaken their mechanical properties.
  • - This study proposes a novel repair method using short fiber filling to restore the mechanical integrity of defective holes, showing effective recovery of properties through experimental tensile tests.
  • - Finite element modeling corroborated the experimental findings, revealing that hole edge defects negatively impacted stiffness and deformation, but these issues were mitigated after repair, with failure primarily occurring around the holes.

Aerospace explorations stimulate extensive research on innovative propellant flow measurement technologies in microgravity conditions. Ultrasonic-based measurements have advantages of non-invasive and non-moving-component constructions as well as fast responses to bi-directional flow detection, its applications in aerospace explorations have already been reported. To avoid the shortages of pulse ultrasonic measurement configurations, flow measurement of continuous ultrasonic wave propagation is presented to match the requirements of large measurement range and high precision.
