Third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) is the standard therapy for patients harboring T790M after first-generation EGFR-TKI resistance. However, the impact of acquired EGFR amplification on the efficacy of third-generation EGFR-TKI against T790M remains uncertain. We aimed to investigate whether the presence of acquired EGFR amplification after first-generation EGFR-TKI resistance influences the efficacy of third-generation EGFR-TKI in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

In order to eliminate the impact of camera viewpoint factors and human skeleton differences on the action similarity evaluation and to address the issue of human action similarity evaluation under different viewpoints, a method based on deep metric learning is proposed in this article. The method trains an automatic encoder-decoder deep neural network model by means of a homemade synthetic dataset, which maps the 2D human skeletal key point sequence samples extracted from motion videos into three potential low-dimensional dense spaces. Action feature vectors independent of camera viewpoint and human skeleton structure are extracted in the low-dimensional dense spaces, and motion similarity metrics are performed based on these features, thereby effectively eliminating the effects of camera viewpoint and human skeleton size differences on motion similarity evaluation.

Numerous studies have substantiated the pivotal role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the prognosis of afflicted patients. Notably, individuals with NSCLC may exhibit heightened vulnerability to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), resulting in a more unfavorable prognosis subsequent to infection. Nevertheless, the impact of COVID-19-related lncRNAs on NSCLC remains unexplored.

Core-shell composite microspheres are increasingly favored for the development of stationary phases due to their ability to integrate the monodispersity of inner core with the functional versatility of outer shell. In this study, poly(styrene-divinylbenzene)@(tris(4-aminophenyl)amine-p-phthalaldehyde-triethylenetetramine) (PS-DVB@TAPA-PPA-TETA) core-shell composite microspheres were constructed via an amine-aldehyde condensation reaction. The resultant microspheres were subsequently quaternized using the residual amine groups of TETA in the shell to create an effective anion-exchange stationary phase.

Carotid atherosclerotic plaques are a major complication associated with type II diabetes, and carotid ultrasound is commonly used for diagnosing carotid vascular disease. In primary hospitals, less experienced ultrasound physicians often struggle to consistently capture standard carotid images and identify plaques. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach, the long-short memory-based detection network (LSMD), for carotid artery detection in ultrasound video streams, facilitating the identification and localization of critical anatomical structures and plaques.

  • NAD levels decrease with age, and supplementing with nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor to NAD, could potentially improve health and longevity in mice on a high-fat diet.
  • Long-term NMN treatment resulted in increased NAD levels, reduced obesity, enhanced physical activity, and improved functions of skeletal muscle and kidneys, while also mitigating age-related inflammation.
  • The study suggests NMN may protect against diet-induced damage by affecting the autophagic pathway and regulating autophagy levels in different tissues.

  • Breast cancer (BC) exhibits aggressive behavior and poor prognosis, and this study focuses on the role of Zinc Finger Protein 64 (ZFP64), a transcription factor, in regulating cancer stem-like properties and tumor growth through glycolysis.
  • High levels of ZFP64 were found in BC tissues, and patients with elevated ZFP64 had worse survival rates; its expression correlated with various clinical factors like N stage and progesterone receptor status.
  • Knocking down ZFP64 reduced BC cell viability and tumor size in animal models, while overexpression of ZFP64 had the opposite effect; it was also shown that ZFP64 influences glycolysis by directly regulating the expression of glycolysis-related genes.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) act as mediators for intercellular transfer of Aβ and tau proteins, promoting the propagation of these pathological misfolded proteins throughout the brain in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Levels of blood exosomal Aβ, total Tau (t-Tau) and phosphorylated Tau (p-Tau) had a high correlation with their concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), demonstrating that exosomal biomarkers have equal contribution as those in CSF for the diagnosis of AD. We aimed to comprehensively characterize the proteome of plasma-derived EVs to identify differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) and pathways in AD.
