We theoretically demonstrate that N-substitutional doping dramatically reduces the diffusion barrier for oxygen passing through the pores of polyphenylene, leading to a massive enhancement in O2 selectivity over various harmful gases with excellent permeance at appropriate temperatures for O2 across an N-doped polyphenylene in a unit cell.

Three-dimensional porous scaffolds of a borosilicate bioactive glass (designated 13-93B1), with the composition 6Na2O-8K2O-8MgO-22CaO-18B2O3-36SiO2-2P2O5 (mol%), were prepared using a foam replication technique and evaluated in vitro and in vivo. Immersion of the scaffolds for 30 days in a simulated body fluid in vitro resulted in partial conversion of the glass to a porous hydroxyapatite composed of fine needle-like particles. The capacity of the scaffolds to support bone formation in vivo was evaluated in non-critical sized defects created in the femoral head of rabbits.

Methods: We randomly assigned 80 asthenospermia patients with accessory sex gland infection to groups 1 and 2 of equal number, the former treated with Qilin Pills + levofloxacin, and the latter with levofloxacin only. Qilin Pills were administered at the dose of 6 g tid for 30 days, and levofloxacin at the dose of 0.
Background: Insulin resistance (IR) triggers endothelial dysfunction, which contributes to erectile dysfunction (ED) and cardiovascular disease.
Aim: To evaluate whether IR was related to ED in young adult patients.
Methods: A total of 283 consecutive men complaining of ED at least six months were enrolled, with a full medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests collected.
Adipogenesis is a multistep process by which 3T3-L1 preadipocytes differentiate into mature adipocytes through mitotic clonal expansion (MCE) and terminal differentiation. The CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein β (C/EBPβ) is an important transcription factor that takes part in both of these processes. C/EBPβ not only transactivates C/EBPα and the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ), which cause 3T3-L1 preadipocytes to enter terminal adipocyte differentiation, but also is required to activate cell cycle genes necessary for MCE.

Its structure was designated on the basis of NMR and X-ray crystallography data.

Recent studies have shown that PIAS1 also plays a part in cell differentiation. However, the role of PIAS1 in adipocyte differentiation remains unknown.

Purpose: To study vascularization restoration through autograft and allograft meniscus models in Oryctolagus cuniculus.
Study Design: Controlled laboratory study.
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) on myocardial regeneration and cardiac repair after acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Materials And Methods: WJ-MSCs were isolated from human umbilical cord under sterile conditions and were cultured and expanded until passage 5. WJ-MSCs were labeled with CM-Dil before transplantation.
Neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) membrane delocalization contributes to the pathogenesis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) by promoting functional muscle ischemia and exacerbating muscle injury during exercise. We have previously shown that supra-physiological expression of nNOS-binding mini-dystrophin restores normal blood flow regulation and prevents functional ischemia in transgenic mdx mice, a DMD model. A critical next issue is whether systemic dual adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy can restore nNOS-binding mini-dystrophin expression and mitigate muscle activity-related functional ischemia and injury.

Devices with RTP-crosslinked hole-transport layers and spin-coated emissive layers exhibit high external quantum efficiencies of up to 15%.

Methods: The expression of p28GANK in 138 gliomas and 50 matched para-cancerous tissues was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and statistical analyses were performed to test the correlation of p28GANK with clinical parameters.
Meniscus transplantation in combination with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has been used in the treatment of patients with meniscus and ACL deficiency. However, there have been no reports of arthroscopic surgery and the outcome of both medial and lateral meniscus allograft transplantation after double-tunnel, double-bundle ACL reconstruction. Herein, we report the case of a young male who received arthroscopic lateral and medial meniscectomy and ACL tibialis allograft reconstruction performed with the double-tunnel and double-bundle technique approximately 8 months after a knee injury.

Methods: In August 2008 a minimal invasive surgery of both the medial and lateral meniscal allograft transplantation following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction was preformed for 1 case with both the medial and lateral meniscectomy by arthroscopic surgery. The method of two bone plugs attached on tibial plateau was employed for medial meniscal allograft transplantation and the technique the bridge in slot for lateral meniscal allograft transplantation.
Background: Many researchers studied the possibility of using stem cells as gene therapeutic vector. But few related reports on the adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are available. Therefore we intended to construct a lentiviral VEGF(165) expression vector and then infect the ADSCs to produce therapeutic seed cells.

Several dual adeno-associated virus (AAV) mini-dystrophin vectors have been tested in dystrophin-deficient mice. Despite the encouraging preclinical results, none of the existing dual AAV vectors can restore sarcolemmal neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) expression.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that osteoinductive growth factor significantly improves bone repair. In this study, a strategy combining degradable bioactive borate glass (BG) scaffolds with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) was tested.

Methods: A total of 60 ED patients and 24 controls were treated with oral tadalafil at 5 mg/d for 6 - 8 weeks, and evaluated by international index of erectile function-5 (IIEF-5), erectile hardness grading scale (EHGS) and brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) test before and after the treatment. All the data obtained were analyzed by independent-sample and paired-sample t tests, respectively.
Introduction: Early prediction of erectile dysfunction (ED) is critical in the treatment of impotence. Underlying pathogenesis may be the reason for ED without organic causes in young men.
Aim: We evaluated the early predictive value of glycosylated serum protein (GSP) in young patients whose ED was diagnosed as "nonorganic" in origin according to general criteria.

Objective: To study the correlation between risk factors of vascular endothelial dysfunction and erectile dysfunction(ED).
Methods: The case history records levels of cholesterol, triglyceride and testicle, endothelial functions detected by using Doppler ultrasound and the risk factors of 134 ED patients were analyzed with those of 15 healthy men as the control group.
Results: We found that flow mediated dilation (FMD)<10% in 97 erectile dysfunction patients among the 134 cases was significantly different from that of the control group with no significant differences in cholesterol, triglyceride and testicle levels.
Background: Adaptive immunity and innate immunity play important roles in atherogenesis. Invariant chain (CD74) mediates antigen-presenting cell antigen presentation and T-cell activation. This study tested the hypothesis that CD74-deficient mice have reduced numbers of active T cells and resist atherogenesis.

The interaction of human serum albumin and folic acid was studied using fluorescence spectroscopy, UV absorption and synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy in the pH 7.4 Tris-HCl buffer system at different temperatures. The research shows that these interactions result in the endogenous fluorescence quenching of HSA, which belongs to a static quenching mechanism.
