Background: The 5-fuorouracil, oxaliplatin and irinotecan (FOLFOXIRI) regimen is the standard first-line treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer (APC). Capecitabine, an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, offers a more convenient and potentially safer alternative. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of the XELOXIRI regimen (capecitabine, oxaliplatin, irinotecan) in Chinese patients with APC.

Many reports have highlighted the involvement of the gut microbiome in the occurrence, progression, and outcomes of neurological disorders. However, current reports are somewhat chaotic, especially concerning whether the gut microbiota has a causal effect on various neurological diseases. Furthermore, whether there is a common mechanism involving gut microbial communities in these neurological disorders has not to be revealed.

Introduction: Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), originally an antimalarial drug, is currently used to treat multiple disorders, especially rheumatic diseases. Given its good efficacy and safety, HCQ is widely administered in pregnant patients. However, the safety profile of HCQ during pregnancy remains controversial due to limited research.

To reveal the differences in transcript levels of spp. from different species and hosts and their impacts on phylogenetic relationships, we focus on 27 strains from four species (, , and ) and three hosts (, and ) to conduct the transcriptome sequencing using Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology. Gene expression differences between strains from different species and hosts are analyzed, and the results of phylogenetic analysis at the transcriptome and genome levels are compared.

RNA modifications shape gene expression through a variety of chemical changes to canonical RNA bases. Although numbering in the hundreds, only a few RNA modifications are well characterized, in part due to the absence of methods to identify modification sites. Antibodies remain a common tool to identify modified RNA and infer modification sites through straightforward applications.

Introduction: Despite the biomechanical advantages of the Femoral Neck System (FNS), improvements in postoperative complication rates have not been significant. This study evaluated the effects of different FNS positions on the biomechanical stability of Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures (FNFs) using finite element analysis (FEA).

Methods: Pauwels type III FNF models fixed with different FNS positions were constructed using various bolt lengths, bolt positions, and axis-bolt angles.

Nucleus pulposus (NP) tissue engineering brings new hope in the repair of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). IVDD is often accompanied by multiscale changes in the mechanical microenvironment, including the changes of mechanical property of collagen fibril, NP tissue, and mechanical instability of spine. In this study, a multiscale mechanically-adapted strategy is proposed to promote NP repair.

Objectives: To observe the effect of acupuncture on neuro-inflammation in rats with cognitive impairment induced by Parkinson's disease (PD) based on the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling pathway.

Methods: SD rats were randomly grouped into sham operation, model, acupuncture, acupuncture+empty and acupuncture+cGAS over-expression groups, with 12 rats in each group. The PD model was established by injecting 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA, 8 μg/rat) into the substantia nigra pars compacta of the left midbrain (AP:-5.

Background And Objective: Liver fibrosis is a pathological process driven by chronic liver injury, characterized by excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition due to hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation. Integrins are critical regulators of ECM remodeling and HSC activation, yet the role of integrin α8(ITGA8) in liver fibrosis remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the function and underlying mechanisms of HSC-derived ITGA8 in liver fibrosis and evaluate the therapeutic potential of ITGA8-targeted intervention.

Developing efficient nickel-iron-based electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) still remains a challenge for long-term application in water electrolysis. Herein, amorphous NiFe hydroxide nanosheets with self-healing active centers supported on stainless steel mesh (-NiFe(OH)/SSM) are fabricated using a simple electrochemical deposition strategy. Raman evidence shows that the amorphous structure of -NiFe(OH)/SSM exhibits strong self-healing ability, efficiently promoting the rapid interconversion between the γ-NiOOH intermediate and Ni-based hydroxides during electrocatalysis.

The genus belonging to the family Pichiaceae is widely distributed worldwide and has garnered significant attention due to its importance in various industries and its potential role in human infections. During our investigation of yeast diversity in China, several strains representing undescribed taxa were isolated from forests in Hainan province, Hubei province, Beijing city and a mudflat in Guangdong province. Based on phylogenetic analyses of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA, these strains were identified as four new species: (holotype strain CGMCC 2.

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a highly heterogeneous autoimmune disease. Recently, 2 subtypes of IgG4-RD, proliferative and fibrotic, were defined according to patients' clinicopathologic characteristics. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in fibroinflammatory activity shown on Ga-FAPI-04 and F-FDG PET/CT in the proliferative and fibrotic IgG4-RD subtypes.

Background: Traditional gamified interventions and serious games have been widely employed by therapists and researchers working with people with autism spectrum disorder. Recent studies have also indicated a trend towards technology-based gamification for training behavioral and social skills in autistic people. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of these gamified interventions in enhancing social interaction and communication outcomes among autistic people remains unclear.

Despite the development of many injectable hydrogels intended for the repair of myocardial infarction (MI), their effectiveness is often compromised because they target merely one or two phases of MI's pathological progression. Here, a multifunctional hydrogel delivery platform is prepared with a brand-new small molecule cross-linker for stepwise treatment of MI. The synthesis and reporting of a novel small-molecule phenylboronic acid cross-linker ((N(BA))) with a precise molecular structure is conducted for the first time, and it is successfully utilized with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) dopamine to prepare a hydrogel with infarct microenvironmental responsiveness and anti-oxidant.

The development of stable and efficient drug delivery systems is essential for advancing therapeutic applications. Here, we present an innovative approach using a mirror-image RNA (l-RNA) nanostructure to enhance the biostability and drug delivery efficiency. We engineered an l-RNA three-way junction structure conjugated with both small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting MCL1 and the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin for targeted and synergistic drug delivery.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with unique pore architectures and electron-rich sites exhibit an unprecedented iodine capture property. In this contribution, the crystal-size and pore-size-dependent iodine adsorption behavior in MOFs ranging in crystal size from nanometers to micrometers with mesoporous and microporous structures is reported. Nano-sized MOFs have much higher iodine adsorption capacities and rates than Micro-sized MOFs.
