Cyanobacterial blooms represent a significant environmental issue posing widespread threats to global aquatic ecological health. Climate and nutrient enrichment were the most studied factors modulating cyanobacterial blooms in eutrophic lakes. However, in many floodplain lakes, the importance of hydrological variation in driving and predicting cyanobacterial blooms is often overlooked and largely underestimated, which has hampered the effectiveness of lake management.

Antivortices have potential applications in future nano-functional devices, yet the formation of isolated antivortices traditionally requires nanoscale dimensions and near-zero magnetocrystalline anisotropy, limiting their broader application. Here, we propose an approach to forming antivortices in multiferroic ε-FeO with the coalescence of misaligned grains. By leveraging misaligned crystal domains, the large magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy is counterbalanced, thereby stabilizing the ground state of the antivortex.

The rectangular FA and needle-shaped MG crystals in the oleogel interlock with each other to form a 3D network, restricting the flow of oil. The gel strength and rheological performance of the oleogel were positively correlated with and negatively correlated with storage temperature ().

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), osteoarthritis (OA), and osteoporosis (OP) are common musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) with similar age-related risk factors, representing the leading causes of disability. However, successful therapeutic development and translation have been hampered by the lack of clinically-relevant animal models. In this study, we investigated the potential suitability of the tree shrew, a small mammal with a close genetic relationship to primates, as a new animal model for MSDs.

Utilizing molecular glue to degrade previously intractable cancer drivers represents an emerging and promising therapeutic approach to cancer treatment. In this study, we developed a novel CRBN-interacting molecular glue, (XYD049), which exhibits potent and selective degradation of G1 to S phase transition 1 (GSPT1), a well-known untargetable cancer driver in diverse cancer cells.

In this study, we comprehensively revealed the association between autophagy flux and CAD from multiple hierarchies. We explored autophagy-associated long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) and the mechanisms underlying oxidative stress-induced human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) injury.

Previously, an alternative method of arterial watershed localization was been introduced to remedy the shortcomings of preoperative CT-guided localization or other methods for locating pulmonary nodules, but its technical limitations were discovered during clinical application. Therefore, we innovated a technique to localize non-subpleural nodules using basin analysis of the target vein and validated its feasibility and safety.

The formation of reaction intermediates involves crucial steps of proton transfer, making it essential to understand the role of protons in the electrochemical process to control the product selectivity and elucidate the underlying catalytic reaction mechanism of the CO electrochemical reduction (CORR). In this work, we proposed a strategy to regulate product selectivities by tuning local proton transport rates through a surface resin layer over cuprous oxides.

Here, a novel flame retardant (Zn-CHP) is synthesized from chitosan (CH), diethylenetriaminepenta (methylenephosphonic) acid (DTPMP), and ZnCl₂ using a simple, solvent-free process. The Zn-CHP additive is melt-blended with PLA, achieving excellent flame retardancy at just 2 wt% loading.

We report on the case of an 8-year-old boy presenting with abdominal pain and vomiting. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen revealed a large tumor, and the pathology results following a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of EIMS.

Methods: Consecutive GC patients received curative resection and examined peripheral lymphocyte subsets in Hunan Cancer Hospital were enrolled as training cohort (n=231), and those from Wuhan Union Hospital and Wuhan Tongji Hospital were included as external validation cohort (n=159). The optimal cutoff values of lymphocyte subsets for overall survival (OS) in training cohort were determined by X-tile.
Wood based composites with low density and great flame retardancy are increasingly required as sustainable and low-carbon building materials for energy conservation. In this work, the symbiosis between bio-based calcium alginate (CaA) and delignified wood was fabricated to form delignified wood-CaA aerogel composites. The density of the delignified wood@CaA sample was dropped to only 89 kg/m from 120 kg/m of the control wood.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial ocular disease, the core mechanism of which is the tear film instability caused by ocular oxidative stress damage and inflammation. Although various pharmaceutical agents are available for DED treatment, their effectiveness is often limited by the eyes' unique biological barriers, and the long-term use of steroid hormones can lead to several adverse effects. This study reported a nano-supramolecular delivery system consisting of a polycyclodextrin (PCD), hyaluronic acid (HA) and the natural compound β-carotene (BC) for the DED treatment.
