Mediating effects of social support between antenatal depression and fear of childbirth among nulliparous woman.

Background: Although gestation and childbirth are progressive physical processes for most pregnant women, there are both physical and great psychosocial challenges throughout the process, which increase the sensitivity and vulnerability of women. Even for women with low-risk pregnancies, it is common to experience degrees of fear, especially for primipara women when faced with childbirth. During their first pregnancy, women may have no relevant health knowledge or experience with delivery and have difficulty identifying prenatal depression and other existing mental health factors; a fear of childbirth (FOC) may engender adverse outcomes for mothers and babies.

StRas2 regulates morphogenesis, conidiation and appressorium development in Setosphaeria turcica.

The proteins of Ras family are a large group of monomeric GTPases and act as molecular switches transducing extracellular signals into the cell in higher eukaryotes. However, little is known about roles of Ras family in the foliar pathogens. In this research, we cloned the gene named StRas2 encoding Ras in Setosphaeria turcica and investigated its function by RNA interference technology.

The personal experiences of HIV/AIDS patients in rural areas of western China.

Because of unique economic, cultural, and social factors, the personal experiences of HIV/AIDS patients in the rural areas of western China are not well understood. The aim of this study was to explore HIV/AIDS patients' thoughts and personal experiences in the environment and conditions of rural western China. Sixteen HIV/AIDS patients from remote western areas of China were interviewed by using an established qualitative method, during April to June 2008.

The experience of college students with pulmonary tuberculosis in Shaanxi, China: a qualitative study.

Background: The prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis among college students in Shaanxi is high. Although tuberculosis leaves much psychological and social impact on patients, little is known about its impact on college students. The objective of this study is to explore the experiences and psychological process of college students with pulmonary tuberculosis in Shaanxi, China.
