African swine fever (ASF) is a devastating disease that can kill almost all infected pigs, causing great damage to the pig industry and destabilizing the global economy. Here, we developed a specific assay that combined multiple cross-displacement amplification (MCDA) with a nanoparticle-based lateral flow biosensor (LFB) for early and rapid identification of the African swine fever virus (ASFV-MCDA-LFB). We first designed a set of MCDA primers to recognize 10 different regions of the target ASFV gene.

We investigate interfacial instability in a lifting Hele-Shaw cell by experiments and theory. We characterize the unexplored transition from stable to unstable patterns under a wide range of controlling parameters. Surprisingly, we find that the perturbation growth rate-based criterion for the onset of instability from linear stability theory is too strict by over 3 orders of magnitude.

Background: The prevalence of obesity among women of reproductive age is increasing worldwide, with implications for serious pregnancy complications.

Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted in both Chinese and English databases up to December 30, 2020. Pregnancy complications and outcomes including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), gestational hypertension (GHTN), pre-eclampsia, cesarean section (CS), induction of labor (IOL), and postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) were analyzed.

Combining powerful adsorption capacity, simple preparation, rapid separation as well as superior stability and recyclability, a polyurea-magnetic hierarchical porous composite has been prepared. It demonstrates efficient physisorption for anionic metabolites in less than one minute and is promising for application to the analysis of a broad range of anionic metabolites in complex matrices.

Amino metabolites are essential for life activities and can be used clinically as biomarkers for disease diagnosis and treatment. Solid-phase-supported chemoselective probes can simplify sample handling and enhance detection sensitivity. However, the low efficiency and complicated preparation of traditional probes limit their further application.

The metabolic balance of amines is closely related to human health. It remains a great challenge to analyze amines with high-throughput and high-coverage. Polythioester-functionalized magnetic nanoprobes (PMPs) have been prepared under mild conditions and applied in chemoselective capture of amides.

Playing a great role in human physiologies and pathologies, carbonyl metabolites are intimately associated with a variety of diseases, though the effective analysis method of them remains a challenge. A hydrazide-terminated polyurea-modified magnetic particle (HPMP) with versatile probes is developed to address this issue. The capture ability of HPMPs for carbonyl metabolite is more than 1200 µmol g , which is increased by 4 orders of magnitude via the introduction of polyurea.

Influenza A virus is globally widespread, causing a large number of infections and deaths due to acute lung injury (ALI) every year. The destruction and impairment of alveolar epithelial and microvascular endothelial cell barrier functions are the key inducers of ALI and acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by influenza virus infection. Although noncoding ribonucleic acids (ncRNAs) do not encode proteins in host cells, they possess the ability of protein regulation and signal transduction.

Root-knot nematode () is the most widespread nematode affecting Solanaceae crops. Due to the lack of effective measures to control this nematode, its management can be achieved, using biocontrol agents. This study investigated efficacy of the antagonistic bacterial strain J211 isolated from tobacco rhizosphere soil against , and further assessed its role in controlling nematodes, both in pot and field trials.

The influenza A virus of the H7N9 subtype (FLUAV H7N9) emerged in Eastern China provinces in 2013 causing illness in both poultry and humans. Most reported FLUAV H7N9 human cases were related to those associated with the live poultry market chain. From 2013 to 2017, there were five epidemic waves of human infections, and from the end of 2016, the number of human cases increased sharply.

Hypothesis: The stability of fluid-fluid interface is key to control the displacement efficiency in multiphase flow. The existence of particles can alter the interfacial dynamics and induce various morphological patterns. Moreover, the particle aggregations are expected to have a significant impact on the interface stability and patterns.

Terrestrialization is one of the most momentous events in the history of plant life, which leads to the subsequent evolution of plant diversity. The transition species, in this process, had to acquire a range of adaptive mechanisms to cope with the harsh features of terrestrial environments compared to that of aquatic habitat. As an ancient antioxidant, a leading regulator of ROS signaling or homeostasis, and a presumed plant master regulator, melatonin likely assisted plants transition to land and their adaption to terrestrial ecosystems.

Melatonin plays key roles in development and confers stress tolerance to plants. Serotonin -acetyltransferase (SNAT) is either the enzyme involved in the last step or the penultimate enzyme of phytomelatonin biosynthesis. To date, genes have not been characterized in tobacco (), an economically important plant species.

Atmospheric depolarization ratio and wind velocity are measured simultaneously by a single versatile coherent Doppler lidar (CDL). Backscattering components at parallel and perpendicular polarization states are obtained by using a single balanced detector, adopting time-division multiplexing technique. Thus systematic error induced by the non-uniform response of different detectors in traditional lidars is avoided.
