ADAM17: A novel treatment target for aneurysms.

Purpose: The mechanisms underlying abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are still not fully understood, previous researches showed ADAM17 is increased in aneurysm. We hypothesized that inhibiting ADAM17 can decrease AAA formation and progression.

Materials And Methods: Aneurysm models were established in mouses and rats by aortic adventitial CaCl incubation and aortic pericardial patch angioplasty respectively.

Background: Tripartite Motif-Containing 24 (TRIM24) is a member of the tripartite motif family. TRIM24 is claimed aberrantly activated in a number of cancers, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer. However, the expression of TRIM24 in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and its relationship with prognosis remain unclear.

Syncope as the Initial Manifestation of Advanced Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: A Case Report.

Carotid sinus syndrome is a principal cause of syncope in the elderly. Syncope, associated with carotid sinus syndrome which is secondary to metastasis of advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma, rarely occurs. The current study reported a 66-year-old woman, who presented with a history of frequent and recurrent syncope as the initial symptom, and was eventually diagnosed with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

The aim of our study was to identify the dietary patterns and severity of symptom classes with the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and its histological precursor lesions, and develop a risk prediction model for different stages of esophageal disease.

Methods: We analyzed data from a multicenter cross-sectional study carried out in ESCC high incidence areas between 2017 and 2018, which included 34,707 individuals aged 40-69 years.

Case Report: A Rare Syncope Case Caused by Abernethy II and a Review of the Literature.

Abernethy malformation is an extremely rare anomaly of the splanchnic venous system, and only 2 cases that manifested as syncope had been reported previously. A 24-year-old male had a 15-year history of jaundice and was in long-term use of hepatoprotective drugs. He was admitted for complaint of syncope.

Surgical management and clinical outcomes of cerebellar liponeurocytomas-a report of seven cases and a pooled analysis of individual patient data.

Cerebellar liponeurocytomas (CLPNs) are very rare, with very few studies on this disease. Their treatment protocol also remains unclear. To better understand the disease, we reviewed the clinical features and outcomes, and proposed a treatment protocol based on previously reported cases as well as cases from our institute.

Microvascular decompression and aneurysm clipping for a patient with hemifacial spasm and ipsilateral labyrinthine artery aneurysm: A rare case report and literature review.

To explore the effectiveness and safety of the combined application of sodium fluorescein and neuronavigation techniques in the resection of brain gliomas in different locations and patients of different ages. Fifty clinical cases of brain gliomas treated at the Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Tiantan Hospital were collected from March 2014 to March 2019. These cases were divided into a supratentorial group (24 cases) and a brainstem group (26 cases) based on location and an adult group (28 cases) and a pediatric group (22 cases) based on age.

Complete Genome Sequence of the Virulent Klebsiella pneumoniae Phage Geezett Infecting Multidrug-Resistant Clinical Strains.

Geezett was isolated from hospital sewage in Hangzhou, China, and exhibits lytic activity against clinical isolates of the nosocomial pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae. The bacteriophage is a myovirus and has a double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genome 50,707 bp long, containing 79 open reading frames (ORFs).

Automated Analysis of Doppler Echocardiographic Videos as a Screening Tool for Valvular Heart Diseases.

Objectives: This study sought to develop a deep learning (DL) framework to automatically analyze echocardiographic videos for the presence of valvular heart diseases (VHDs).

Background: Although advances in DL have been applied to the interpretation of echocardiograms, such techniques have not been reported for interpretation of color Doppler videos for diagnosing VHDs.

Methods: The authors developed a 3-stage DL framework for automatic screening of echocardiographic videos for mitral stenosis (MS), mitral regurgitation (MR), aortic stenosis (AS), and aortic regurgitation (AR) that classifies echocardiographic views, detects the presence of VHDs, and, when present, quantifies key metrics related to VHD severities.

Design and optimisation of a small-molecule TLR2/4 antagonist for anti-tumour therapy.

In anti-tumour therapy, the toll-like receptor 2/4 (TLR2/4) signalling pathway has been a double-edged sword. TLR2/4 agonists are commonly considered adjuvants for immune stimulation, whereas TLR2/4 antagonists demonstrate more feasibility for anti-tumour therapy under specific chronic inflammatory situations. In individuals with cancer retaliatory proliferation and metastasis after surgery, blocking the TLR2/4 signalling pathway may produce favourable prognosis for patients.
