Aim: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to explore the effects of different pulmonary rehabilitation on respiratory function in mechanically ventilated patients and to determine the optimal type of intervention.
Method: A comprehensive search was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI), and the Cochrane Library from their inception until September 16th, 2024. The search targeted randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing pulmonary rehabilitation or usual care, for improving respiratory function in mechanically ventilated patients.
Background: As fertility rates decline and population ageing intensifies, the conflict between career and childbearing continues to impact clinicians, especially women. Exploring gender differences in the fertility intentions of male and female clinicians could help with identifying barriers to childbearing, developing effective policies to support work-life balance, and addressing the gap in research on gender disparities in this field.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey among health care personnel in Chinese public hospitals.
Background: Epilepsy, as a chronic noncommunicable disease with recurrent seizures, may be a marker of deterioration or alteration in other underlying neurological diseases. This study aimed to investigate the relationship of epilepsy with brain function, other common brain disorders, and their underlying mechanisms.
Methods: The study was based on clinical diagnostic and test data from 426,527 participants in the UK Biobank, of whom 3,251 were diagnosed with epilepsy at baseline.
Lignin is a natural phenolic polymer characterized with renewable, sustainable and biocompatible, but yet remain underutilized. In the post-pandemic era, people are conventionally reusing mask but without any disinfections to prevent infection of virus in public places, which could lead to accumulation of bacteria and secondary infections. The development of antibacterial mask from lignin would simultaneously address the hygiene issues of used mask due to microbe accumulation and provide novel approach for lignin valorization.

In this study, we investigated the community assembly mechanisms of nirK- and nirS-type denitrifying bacteria and clarified their responses to sediments environmental factors in Lake Taihu, China. The quantitative real-time PCR and Illumina HiSeq-based sequencing revealed that the abundance and composition of two types of denitrifying bacterial communities varied among different sites in the sediments of Lake Taihu.

Nevertheless, whether KLF5 plays a role in gallbladder cancer (GBC) remains to be elucidated. This study aims to clarify the role of KLF5 in the proliferation, migration and angiogenesis in GBC cells.

Due to the evolutionary differentiation of complexes and the semi-autonomy of mitochondria, respiratory chain subunits have become critical targets for crop improvement and fungal control. In fungi, mitochondrial complex I mediates growth and metabolism.

We reported a case of lymphoma initially manifesting systematic lymphadenopathies and lung space-occupying lymphoma that developed to lung squamous cell carcinoma in 30 months. The diseases once responded satisfactorily to chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy but progressed after 8 months.

However, the inherent toxicity and leaching risk of CdS-based catalyst presents significant challenges for practical applications. This study explored the incorporation of CdS nanowires on the nitrogen-doped multi-wall carbon tubes (N-MWCNTs) substrate to minimize the leaching rate and mitigate the bio-toxicity by regulating the electron transfer process.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the expression and diagnostic value of miR-19b-3p in PD patients, as well as its relationship with inflammatory factors.
Methods: We recruited 50 PD patients and 50 healthy age- and gender-matched controls and collected demographic data and biochemical parameters from both groups.

Materials And Methods: Questions from the NDLE from 2020 to 2022 were selected based on subject weightings. Standardized prompts were utilized to regulate the output of LLMs for acquiring more precise answers.
Unlabelled: In the face of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus starvation, microorganisms have evolved adaptive mechanisms to maintain growth. In a previous study, we identified a protein predicted to contain acyl-CoA-binding domains in the plant pathogenic fungus . The predicted protein, designated VdAcb1, possesses an atypical signal peptide.

Additionally, widespread insecticide resistance has reduced the efficacy of current control methods, necessitating new solutions. Nootkatone, a natural compound found in grapefruit, shows promise as both a mosquito repellent and an insecticide.

Background: In recent years, the frequent outbreaks of infectious diseases and insufficient emergency response capabilities, particularly issues exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, have underscored the critical role of nurses in addressing public health crises. It is currently necessary to investigate the emergency preparedness of nursing personnel following the COVID-19 pandemic completely liberalized, aiming to identify weaknesses and optimize response strategies.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the emergency response competence of nurses, identify their specific training needs, and explore the various elements that impact their emergency response competence.
Background: is a traditional herb widely used in Asian countries. As regulatory institutions increasingly acknowledge its medicinal and food-related characteristics, the attention from scholars is expected to increase rapidly. However, an overview and reports on research focus on this promising herb are currently lacking.

While many studies have documented the residues of ARGs in soils and crops, but little is known about who drives the proliferation of ARGs in farming systems and what their underlying mechanisms are. Herein, we explored the occurrence and proliferating behavior of ARGs in soil-crop environments in terms of root secretions and plant volatiles.

Methods: Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were used to include 12,801 participants in a cross-sectional study and 8781 participants in a cohort study. Residential environmental quality was assessed using indicators such as particulate matter, types of household fuel, water sources, indoor temperature, and building types.
Context: Obesity is a chronic inflammatory disorder, which promotes the progression of metabolic disorders. MicroRNA (miR)-6838-5p is dysregulated and participates in the progression of several disorder models.
Objective: To explore the role and mechanism of miR-6838-5p in insulin resistance.
Both nanoplastic (NP) particles and arsenic (As) are widespread in aquatic environments and pose a combined risk of exposure to aquatic organisms. How the gut of aquatic organisms responds to combined risk of exposure is still unclear. In this study, zebrafish (Danio rerio) were subjected to three distinct As stress environments: only As group (10 μg/L), and As combined with different concentrations of polystyrene (PS) NPs (1 mg/L and 10 mg/L) groups for 21 days via semi-static waterborne exposure.

Diabetes is a metabolic disease in which tissues and organs are exposed to a hyperglycemic environment for a prolonged period. Long-term hyperglycemia can cause dysfunction of multiple organs and tissues in the body, leading to diabetic complications such as diabetic cardiomyopathy and diabetic nephropathy. Diabetes and its complications have become one of the key issues that seriously threaten the health of people worldwide.

Unfortunately, the factors that underlie these limitations remain unclear and, therefore, no clear device-engineering guidelines are available. Here, by using electrically excited transient absorption spectroscopy, we find that the low efficiency of state-of-the-art green cadmium-free QD-LEDs (which ubiquitously adopt the InP-ZnSeS-ZnS core-shell-shell structure) originates from the ZnSeS interlayer because it imposes a high injection barrier that limits the electron concentration and trap saturation.
