An 81-year-old woman presented with purpura, petechiae, ecchymoses, flesh or brown-colored waxy, smooth, papules, warty plaque, nail dystrophy and palmodigital erythematous swelling for more than 6 years. She was diagnosed as multiple myeloma-associated systemic amyloidosis after skin subcutaneous histopathological examinations and relevant examinations such as blood and bone marrow. Methods: Eudipleural rashes on both the left and right side of the same patients with psoriasis vulgaris, diagnosed via TCM as blood stasis pattern, were selected as the targeted skin lesions. A randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled, multicenter controlled trial was conducted.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Psoriasis is a complex recurrent inflammatory skin disease with different pathological changes in different stages. Psoriasis in its active stage, which is comparable to the blood-heat type in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been treated by Liangxue Jiedu Decoction (LJD) in TCM for decades, with proven efficacy. According to TCM theories, LJD has the function of removing heat and pathogenic factors from the blood.

Methods: Ten healthy adults (five male and five female) were treated by moxibustion at the “Jiudianfeng” point for 30 minutes once daily for 3 months. The effects of treatment with serum obtained following moxibustion on melanocyte proliferation, melanin content, tyrosinase activity, cell cycle progression, and mRNA and protein expression were assessed before and after moxibustion for 1, 2, and 3 months.
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy combined with ultraviolet B light therapy in the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.
Methods: Patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis (skin lesion area > 10% of the body surface area) for 2 consecutive years were treated with TCM (oral and external use of herbal medicines, acupuncture, and herbal bathing) and narrow-band medium-wave ultraviolet B light treatment for 12 weeks. C118P, a phosphate prodrug of C118, which is a novel microtubule protein inhibitor, is currently under Phase I clinical development in China for treating ovarian cancer and lung cancer. The preclinical pharmacokinetics of prodrug C118P and its metabolite C118 were extensively characterized in vivo in mice, rats, and dogs and in vitro to support the further development of C118P. Objective: To investigate and compare the efficacy and safety of two kinds of Qinbai ointment prepared conventionally and finely (C-QBO and F-QBO) in treating psoriasis in the active stage of blood-heat syndrome type, and to observe their influences on vaginal epithelial cell mitosis, also on keratinization of caudal flakes in mice.
Clinical Observation: Adopting randomized, single-blinded, controlled design, 93 patients administered orally with Liangxue Huoxue Decoction were randomized into three groups treated externally with C-QBO, F-QBO and white vaseline respectively, applied twice a day for 8 weeks. The safety was checked and the changes of modified psoriasis area severity index (PASI), as well as the conditions of skin lesions (size, erythema, infiltration, squama, and itching) and symptom improving time were compared.
